This lovely stone cottage was originally a large and ancient stone barn at Sainham Farm. Godshill can be reached by taking a pleasant 10 minute stroll through the beech copse and across the fields. The village has a variety of tea shops and restaurants as well as two good public houses. This is a wonderful walking area. Footpaths lead from the farm to Appuldurcombe and join the extensive Stenbury Trail to the coast at Ventnor. The sandy beaches of Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor are only a 10 minute drive away.

Stag Cottage has been skilfully designed to provide light, spacious and very attractive accommodation with beautiful rural views. It has been furnished and equipped with care in a modern style. The front door opens into a beautiful hallway with a central staircase ascending to a lovely gallery that leads to the bedrooms. There is one double bedroom with a modern en-suite bathroom and W.C plus two twin bedrooms. (Travel cot/high chair available). There is a separate shower room with a built in shower and W.C. On the ground floor there is a sitting room attractively and comfortably furnished with sofas, television/Freeview/DVD. WiFi internet is provided at the cottage. The modern fitted kitchen is equipped to a high standard with a range style Esse cooker, electric hob, separate electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and fridge freezer. There is a very attractive dining area by the window. A cloakroom with W.C is also on the ground floor. The cottage is centrally heated and all heating and electricity is at no extra charge.

Guests have a to a lovely fenced garden at the rear of the cottage where visitors can relax and enjoy the marvellous open views. Garden furniture is provided. Cars can be parked close to the cottage. Regular bus service/shop within 10 minutes walk. Beautiful carpets of bluebells can be a joy to see, in nearby woodland, in late April and early May.

Local Walk From Godshill

Walk or Cycle to Shanklin - This walk first follows the Stenbury Trail to Wroxall and then the cycle track to Shanklin. To reach the Stenbury Trail from Godshill head out of town along the main road towards Shanklin before turning right after 200 yards onto the trail. Continue up the trail to the Freemantle Gate (photo of the Freemantle Gate) which you pass thought and follow the path which bears left across the fields towards Appuldurcombe and Wroxall. There is a wide flat cycle way that runs from Wroxall to Shanklin. The track starts below the old railway bridge in the centre of Wroxall. If you are walking there is a footpath leading from alongside the bridge to the start of the track but if you are on a bike you must cross the bridge and follow the cycle path signs. Once you are on the track it is clearly signposted all the way to Shanklin. The track runs along the old railway line and the banks on either side are lined with lush vegetation.

We have stayed in quite a few cottages over the years with our two young children and Stag Cottage is easily the best we have come across. Absolutely immaculate throughout, peaceful location and stunning views. We will definitely be planning a return visit!
