Upstairs is a double bedroom and newly equipped shower room.
This pretty thatched cottage is attractively situated in the grounds of Gillmans House, a ‘listed’ property close to the centre of Brighstone - a charming village with many thatched cottages, an ancient church, a general stores, public house, newsagents and hairdressers. The village is surrounded by beautiful West Wight countryside and is less than a mile from the beach and National Trust coastline. Behind the village are the Brighstone Downs. Footpaths can be followed from here to the renowned Tennyson Downs and The Needles. The spectacular coastal views from these downs are breathtaking. Paths in the opposite direction lead to the medieval castle of Carisbrooke and the market town of Newport close to the centre of the Island.
Stable Cottage has been converted from a lovely barn that dates back to the 17th Century. It is a Grade 11 listed building that is built of stone and wood. The cottage has been furnished and equipped in a traditional style to a high standard. It has been decorated with the greatest care and attention to detail. It provides very comfortable and attractive accommodation for two people. There is a large pretty double bedroom with a king size bed, flat screen television/Freeview/DVD and an en-suite bathroom with bath, hand shower, basin and WC; an open plan sitting room with a sofa, television with Freesat and DVD, plus radio and iPod dock; a pleasant dining area and a fitted kitchen area with an electric hob with two hot plates, a combination microwave with convection oven/grill, refrigerator and freezer (washing machine and tumble drying service available). Oil filled radiators keep the cottage warm in colder weather and all heating and electricity are provided free of charge. (Please be aware that there are two steps between the bedroom door and the sitting room. WiFi internet connection available.
Stable Cottage has its own delightful secluded garden where visitors can relax in the sunshine. Garden furniture and parasol provided. A car can be parked alongside the cottage. Rural bus service and village shops within 3 minutes walk. We regret that it is not possible to have a barbecue, candles or naked flames in the vicinity of the cottage because of the thatched roof.
The secluded sandy bays of Brighstone, Brook & Compton are within a short drive of the cottage. The small towns of Freshwater and Yarmouth are also nearby and they offer a choice of restaurants and shops. Mottistone Manor House, a National Trust property, is only a mile from Brighstone and Queen Victoria’s Island home - Osborne House is within a 30 minute drive.
