The cottage adjoins the grounds of Shalfleet Manor House and has its own private entrance into a quiet lane which leads from the village to a footpath on Newtown Creek. This estuary, which is only a few minutes walk from the farmhouse, is part of a National Nature Reserve and is in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Shalfleet Manor Farmhouse is perfect for a large family gathering. There were seven of us plus a golden retriever. The house is comfortable and spacious. The large garden is enclosed. Lovely swimming pool. Every day we walked down to the quay to see the boats and interesting bird life. Cottage rating: 5 Stars

This farmhouse is attractively situated on the edge of the pretty village of Shalfleet towards the West side of the Isle of Wight. The cottage adjoins the grounds of Shalfleet Manor House and has its own private entrance into a quiet lane which leads from the village to a footpath on Newtown Creek. This estuary, which is only a few minutes walk from the farmhouse, is part of a National Nature Reserve and is in an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'. It is home to countless wildfowl and rare wading birds. The walks around the estuary are some of the most attractive on the Island. Several secluded bays and beaches are within 10 minutes drive.

Shalfleet Manor Farmhouse is a detached property equipped with care and centrally heated. Heating/electricity free of charge. Upstairs there is an attractive double bedroom with an en-suite shower room and WC; a second spacious double room with a king size bed, and a triple room with bunk beds and a single bed; plus a bathroom with a bath, hand shower and WC. There is also a single bedroom on the ground floor with an adjoining shower room and WC. High chair and wooden cot available. The sitting room is a lovely light room with windows overlooking the gardens and an open fire can be enjoyed in colder weather. It has a television/Freeview/DVD. There is a large open plan modern fitted kitchen with attractive units, and a pleasant dining area by a window overlooking the front garden. The kitchen is equipped with an electric cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. The farmhouse also has a games area where table tennis is provided for guests to enjoy. Wifi internet is also provided.

The farmhouse has a spacious fenced garden with a large area of lawn where visitors can relax and games can be played. Garden furniture and a barbecue are provided. Three cars can be parked in the drive.

There is a tennis court in the grounds of the manor house which visitors are welcome to use and also a beautiful heated swimming pool which can be used each weekday morning and at other times by agreement from mid June – mid September. (Please be aware that the shape of the pool means it cannot be covered and it is heated to a temperature in the region of 22 degrees in summer. The temperature is otherwise dependent on the warmth of the weather. The pool may be used in May and late September but at these times the temperature cannot be guaranteed). Use of the pool is shared with visitors of Shalfleet Barn and Cottage. The swimming pool is less than a minutes walk from the farmhouse and enjoys a secluded position, surrounded by the beautiful gardens of the Manor House. Public house with an excellent restaurant, village shop, bus service and telephone within a few minutes walk. Smoking not permitted.

To walk simply follow the marked cycle route in the direction of Freshwater till you reach the small road bridge. Turn right, cross the bridge and continue for 200 yards to the pub. This is a lovely, roomy cottage in a great setting right by a nature reserve and a short walk from the sea. There is a fantastic pub 2 minutes' walk away, and a fantastic deli just up the road. Overall Rating: 5 Stars

Shalfleet Manor Farmhouse Specific Pet and Dog Information

Two dogs are welcome and the back garden is fenced. Pets are not permitted upstairs, on the furniture or in the bedrooms. We also ask owners not to leave dogs on their own in the cottage and not to allow them to foul the garden. Puppies and also dogs with incontinence problems are not permitted without specific agreement. Please ensure that your pet's treatment for the prevention of fleas is up to date.

Here at Shalfleet, we have a huge range of birds, from the magnificent Buzzard to the beautiful Gold finch. We have nightingales which sing during the day, but also at night! You can also expect to see Goldfinches, Chaffinches, Wood peckers, Jackdaws, Wagtails and more. We really hope you enjoy your stay with us and our feathered friends.
