This lovely stone cottage is situated in the small rural hamlet of Bowcombe which stands between the pretty village of Shorwell and Carisbrooke with its medieval castle. Shorwell and Carisbrooke are both within a 5 minute drive and have public houses which are good for meals. The cottage offers easy access to the small bays and coves on the south west side of the Isle of Wight. Brighstone beach is within a 10 minute drive and the larger sandy beaches of Ventnor and Shanklin are within a 20 minute drive.

This picturesque Grade II listed cottage dates back to 1676 and is attractively situated at the end of a quiet lane with a lovely ford and footpath leading to the nearby medieval castle of Carisbrooke. Located in the oldest part of Carisbrooke village which is a conservation area lying within ‘An area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'. The castle is only 5 minutes walk away and can be glimpsed from the garden and main bedrooms. This is a wonderful walking area as within 5 minutes walk of the cottage visitors can join the famous Tennyson Trail which follows the downs westerly towards The Needles.

Driftwood is within a three minute walk of the beach at Brighstone on the south west coast of the Isle of Wight – a quiet beach where swimming and paddling can be enjoyed. This is “An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty“ and a delightful walking area. Driftwood is attractively situated in a small courtyard of cottages. There are coastal or lovely downland views from most of the rooms. It has been furnished and equipped with care to provide lovely accommodation Wifi and telephone available. Within a short walk is the centre of the village of Bonchurch where there is a village pond and excellent local restaurant. The beach at nearby Ventnor is a popular holiday attraction.

This delightful stone cottage which dates back to 1761 is built of Isle of Wight chalk and brick. Hackney Stable cottage is situated on a lovely farm in beautiful South Wight countryside. It is a marvellous walking area with footpaths that can be followed directly from the cottage in most directions. There are particularly attractive walks along the course of the river Yar, to the picturesque village of Godshill and to the nearby village of Arreton which has a public house, farm shop and cafe for meals. The cottage is excellent for cyclists as there is access to a network of cycle paths directly from the farm and arrangements can be make for the storage of bikes. The sandy beaches of Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor are all within a 15 minute drive. Ferries can be booked for you at greatly discounted prices.

This charming, Grade II listed cottage, is only a short drive from the sandy beach of Shanklin. It is peacefully situated in a quiet leafy hamlet in beautiful countryside, only 1.5 miles from the centre of the small seaside resort of Shanklin, on the east coast of the Isle of Wight. Shanklin has a lovely sandy beach which gently slopes into the water, a variety of restaurants, small shops and traditional seaside entertainments. The cottage has a lovely large sunny garden and is in a wonderful cycling and walking area. Footpaths and bridleways lead from close to the cottage to the coast at Shanklin and there is a particularly delightful walk across fields and downs to Ventnor offering panoramic views across Sandown Bay. The pretty village of Godshill is within a 5 minute drive and here there is good public house for meals, teashops and a hill top church.
This farmhouse is attractively situated on the edge of the pretty village of Shalfleet towards the West side of the Isle of Wight. The cottage adjoins the grounds of Shalfleet Manor House and has its own private entrance into a quiet lane which leads from the village to a footpath on Newtown Creek. This estuary, which is only a few minutes walk from the farmhouse, is part of a National Nature Reserve and is in an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'. It is home to countless wildfowl and rare wading birds. The walks around the estuary are some of the most attractive on the Island. Several secluded bays and beaches are within 10 minutes drive.
Shalfleet Manor Farmhouse is a detached property equipped with care and centrally heated. Heating/electricity free of charge. Upstairs there is an attractive double bedroom with an en-suite shower room and WC; a second spacious double room with a king size bed, and a triple room with bunk beds and a single bed; plus a bathroom with a bath, hand shower and WC. There is also a single bedroom on the ground floor with an adjoining shower room and WC. High chair and wooden cot available. The sitting room is a lovely light room with windows overlooking the gardens and an open fire can be enjoyed in colder weather. It has a television/Freeview/DVD. There is a large open plan modern fitted kitchen with attractive units, and a pleasant dining area by a window overlooking the front garden. The kitchen is equipped with an electric cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. The farmhouse also has a games area where table tennis is provided for guests to enjoy. Wifi internet is also provided.
The farmhouse has a spacious fenced garden with a large area of lawn where visitors can relax and games can be played. Garden furniture and a barbecue are provided. Three cars can be parked in the drive.
There is a tennis court in the grounds of the manor house which visitors are welcome to use and also a beautiful heated swimming pool which can be used each weekday morning and at other times by agreement from mid June – mid September. (Please be aware that the shape of the pool means it cannot be covered and it is heated to a temperature in the region of 22 degrees in summer. The temperature is otherwise dependent on the warmth of the weather. The pool may be used in May and late September but at these times the temperature cannot be guaranteed). Use of the pool is shared with visitors of Shalfleet Barn and Cottage. The swimming pool is less than a minutes walk from the farmhouse and enjoys a secluded position, surrounded by the beautiful gardens of the Manor House. Public house with an excellent restaurant, village shop, bus service and telephone within a few minutes walk. Smoking not permitted.
Shalfleet Manor Farmhouse has ground floor accommodation and is a non smoking cottage. WiFi Internet is provided at Shalfleet Manor Farmhouse. Shalfleet Manor Farmhouse is available for weekly self catering holiday bookings from Saturday to Saturday. The normal arrival time at this holiday cottage is 16:00 and the normal departure time is 10:00. The small village of Shalfleet is on the north coast of the Isle of Wight and has a wetlands area which is teeming with wildlife. This nature lovers paradise is best enjoyed by following the coastal path to Yarmouth which takes in several types of habitat. Shalfleet has a historic church and traditional public house serving good food and local beer. Freshwater is within a short drive of Shalfleet or reached via a pleasant rural walk.

Red Lion Public House in nearby Freshwater - The Red Lion is a traditional public house serving great food using local produce and local caught seafood. The Red Lion is in the neighbouring small town of Freshwater but their is a lovely estuary side walk which runs from Yarmouth. To walk simply follow the marked cycle route in the direction of Freshwater till you reach the small road bridge. Turn right, cross the bridge and continue for 200 yards to the pub. The ride starts in Freshwater Bay, joins a cycle track on the edge of Freshwater town going to Yarmouth. After seeing Yarmouth, with it's castle and boutique shops, the route continues to Totland and Totland Bay, where there is a beautiful beach, and on towards Alum Bay where we turn back towards Freshwater.

The West of the Isle of Wight is best known for its unspoilt nature and dramatic coastline. The areas is far less commercialised and the many of the beaches can be enjoyed almost to ones self. West Isle of Wight beaches include Totland Bay, Freshwater Bay, Compton Beach, Brook Beach and Bembridge Beach.

Two dogs are welcome and the back garden is fenced. Pets are not permitted upstairs, on the furniture or in the bedrooms. We also ask owners not to leave dogs on their own in the cottage and not to allow them to foul the garden. Here at Shalfleet, we have a huge range of birds, from the magnificent Buzzard to the beautiful Gold finch. We have nightingales which sing during the day, but also at night! You can also expect to see Goldfinches, Chaffinches, Wood peckers, Jackdaws, Wagtails and more. We really hope you enjoy your stay with us and our feathered friends.
