This lovely stone cottage is situated in the small rural hamlet of Bowcombe which stands between the pretty village of Shorwell and Carisbrooke with its medieval castle. Shorwell and Carisbrooke are both within a 5 minute drive and have public houses which are good for meals. The cottage offers easy access to the small bays and coves on the south west side of the Isle of Wight. Brighstone beach is within a 10 minute drive and the larger sandy beaches of Ventnor and Shanklin are within a 20 minute drive.

This picturesque Grade II listed cottage dates back to 1676 and is attractively situated at the end of a quiet lane with a lovely ford and footpath leading to the nearby medieval castle of Carisbrooke. Located in the oldest part of Carisbrooke village which is a conservation area lying within ‘An area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'. The castle is only 5 minutes walk away and can be glimpsed from the garden and main bedrooms. This is a wonderful walking area as within 5 minutes walk of the cottage visitors can join the famous Tennyson Trail which follows the downs westerly towards The Needles.

Driftwood is within a three minute walk of the beach at Brighstone on the south west coast of the Isle of Wight – a quiet beach where swimming and paddling can be enjoyed. This is “An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty“ and a delightful walking area. Driftwood is attractively situated in a small courtyard of cottages. There are coastal or lovely downland views from most of the rooms. It has been furnished and equipped with care to provide lovely accommodation Wifi and telephone available. This farmhouse is attractively situated on the edge of the pretty village of Shalfleet towards the West side of the Isle of Wight. The cottage adjoins the grounds of Shalfleet Manor House and has its own private entrance into a quiet lane which leads from the village to a footpath on Newtown Creek. This estuary, which is only a few minutes walk from the farmhouse, is part of a National Nature Reserve and is in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Several secluded bays and beaches are within 10 minutes drive.

This delightful stone cottage which dates back to 1761 is built of Isle of Wight chalk and brick. Hackney Stable cottage is situated on a lovely farm in beautiful South Wight countryside. It is a marvellous walking area with footpaths that can be followed directly from the cottage in most directions. There are particularly attractive walks along the course of the river Yar, to the picturesque village of Godshill and to the nearby village of Arreton which has a public house, farm shop and cafe for meals. The cottage is excellent for cyclists as there is access to a network of cycle paths directly from the farm and arrangements can be make for the storage of bikes. The sandy beaches of Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor are all within a 15 minute drive. Ferries can be booked for you at greatly discounted prices.

This charming, Grade II listed cottage, is only a short drive from the sandy beach of Shanklin. It is peacefully situated in a quiet leafy hamlet in beautiful countryside, only 1.5 miles from the centre of the small seaside resort of Shanklin, on the east coast of the Isle of Wight. Shanklin has a lovely sandy beach which gently slopes into the water, a variety of restaurants, small shops and traditional seaside entertainments. The cottage has a lovely large sunny garden and is in a wonderful cycling and walking area. Footpaths and bridleways lead from close to the cottage to the coast at Shanklin and there is a particularly delightful walk across fields and downs to Ventnor offering panoramic views across Sandown Bay. The pretty village of Godshill is within a 5 minute drive and here there is good public house for meals, teashops and a hill top church.
The Retreat is a delightful detached property, with a swimming pool in the garden. It is within a 10 minute walk of the beach. Bonchurch is a lovely coastal village with stone cottages, an 11th Century church, a pretty village pond, cafe and public house. It was a favoured spot for poets such as Keats and Swinburne who came to take advantage of the tranquillity, mild climate and beauty of the area. There is also a charming coastal path walk from Bonchurch with Shanklin and a promenade links Bonchurch with the small coastal resort of Ventnor.
This lovely detached cottage, built of Island stone, has been furnished and equipped with care to provide attractive, spacious and comfortable accommodation for 8 people in 4 bedrooms. On the ground floor there is a large sitting room with two separate seating areas furnished with sofas and armchairs, French doors opening on to the terrace plus a flame effect gas fire and a wall mounted flat screen Smart TV with Amazon Prime plus Freesat and a DVD player; a small conservatory area; a shower room with built in shower, WC and basin; a fitted kitchen equipped with a double electric oven and grill, electric hob, microwave, fridge freezer and slimline dishwasher (washing machine provided in outside area); a lovely open plan dining area with french doors opening into the garden plus a wood burning stove and a circular table which will comfortably accommodate eight for meals. Stairs lead up to 4 spacious bedrooms - a charming master bedroom with a king size bed, wardrobe and sea views; a second double room with fitted wardrobe and sea views; a smaller double bedroom with a low level bed, rocking chair and a bay window with sea glimpses; a twin bedroom with sea glimpses. (An inflatable single bed can be provided so that two children can sleep separately in one of the double bedrooms). There is also a delightful family bathroom with a beautiful stained glass window, walk in shower, central bath and two hand basins plus WC. Central heating and WiFi internet are provided without extra charge.
The Retreat has a lovely walled and gated garden with a Victorian terrace, a lawn, shrubberies and a heated swimming pool (8m x 4m) which is available from late May to late September. Garden furniture is provided so that meals can be enjoyed in the sunshine. There is also a drive where 3 cars can be parked and a fourth car can generally be parked just outside the cottage.
The Retreat is a non smoking cottage. WiFi Internet is provided free of charge at The Retreat. The Retreat is available for weekly self catering holiday bookings from Friday to Friday. The normal arrival time at this holiday cottage is 16:00 and the normal departure time is 10:00.
We can book the ferry to the Isle of Wight for you at preferential prices and this can be added to your Isle of Wight holiday cottage booking. A quote will automatically be sent to you with the confirmation of your holiday.

The beach at Ventnor is popular with holiday visitors and locals alike due to the gently sloping sand and fine shingle beach and pleasant water for swimming. The little town boasts a good variety of shops and restaurants as well as an excellent wine bar on the seafront. The historic seaside village of Bonchurch is a charming holiday location on the South of the Isle of Wight. The little village has a sand and shingle beach as well as a beautiful centre arranged around the village pond. The 11th century church in Bonchurch is well worth a visit. The coastal path from Bonchurch is a quick route into Ventnor and the walk takes around 15 to 20 minutes.

The South of the Isle of Wight is a wonderful mix of pretty beaches and dramatic coastal landscape. The sand and shingle beach at Ventnor is one of the more popular holiday locations but hidden gems such as Bonchurch and Steephill Cove are really worth a visit too.
The coastal path around the South Coast of the Isle of Wight is a particularly beautiful stretch to explore and passes a number of attractive sites which include Steephill Cove, Orchard Bay and St Catherine's Light House at Niton Undercliff. Some of this area has been prone to erosion so you must stick to the footpath and take heed of diversions.

Two dogs are welcome and the garden is walled and gated but not dog proof for smaller dogs. Pets are not permitted upstairs, on the furniture or in the bedrooms. We also ask owners not to leave dogs on their own in the cottage and not to allow them to foul the garden.
