Fodder Stable is on a lovely farm in beautiful East Wight countryside with no passing traffic. From the cottage there are views across the fields to the downs of Ventnor in the distance. The sandy beaches of Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor are all within a 15 minute drive. The cottage is centrally situated and most parts of the Island are no more than a 20 minute drive away The cottage is in a wonderful walking area with footpaths leading along the course of the River Yar and to the nearby picturesque village of Godshill. Visitors are free to stroll across the fields of the farm and around the lovely lake in the grounds of the Manor House.

There is an open grassland area near the lakes with open views where barbecues can be enjoyed. There is also a lovely nature trail on the farm so that visitors can enjoy the wonderful range of wild life – this includes herons, ducks and geese on the lakes; swallows and kestrels often nest in the barns; pheasants, foxes and badgers plus rabbits which abound. A small herd of cows is kept on the farm and there is a delightful area for children with small rare-breed bagot goats that will eat from the hand and rescued hens which are now free-range. From the property there is direct access across the fields to the cycle track which links Sandown to Newport and Cowes. Arrangements can be made for the storage of bikes. It is suggested that you bring your walking boots and bicycles for your own pleasure.

Fodder Stable offers attractive and spacious accommodation for 2 people. It is completely self contained and comprises the entire ground floor of a wonderful old building, the foundations of which date back to the 1700s. A fire in 1889 resulted in much of it being rebuilt and in 2007 the whole building was renovated with the greatest care. Wherever possible original features have been retained. The cottage is centrally heated and has been furnished and equipped to a very high standard in a traditional style. The accommodation is largely open plan and there are attractive oak floors with rugs. There is a lovely sitting room furnished with comfortable sofas & a television/DVD. French doors open into the sunny courtyard garden. There is a pleasant dining area and a modern fitted kitchen equipped with an electric cooker, ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and fridge freezer. A door leads from the sitting room into a pretty double bedroom with a large en-suite bathroom equipped with a bath, built in shower, basin and W.C. Heating and electricity at no extra charge. Folding bed, sofa bed, wooden cot and high chair available. WiFi internet available.

At the rear of the cottage there is a private, fenced courtyard garden with a table, chairs and sun shade. A car can be parked just outside the front of the cottage. Access to the cottage is along a gravel lane. Arreton is a village within a pleasant 30 minutes stroll of the cottage where there is a public house, farm shop and tea room. Regular bus service 15 minutes walk.

Fodder Stable has ground floor accommodation and is a non smoking cottage. WiFi Internet is provided at a charge of £12.00 at Fodder Stable. Fodder Stable is available for weekly self catering holiday bookings from Saturday to Saturday. The normal arrival time at this holiday cottage is 16:30 and the normal departure time is 11:00.

Lovely area and [the owners] were very nice people. We would have prefered sheets in place of the duvet found it very warm during the night. Also some information of the Isle would be a good thing as i am certain we missed something. Overall Rating: 5 Stars

Thanks for a fabulous holiday. The cottage was spacious and clean and in a lovely peaceful location. The welcome was great. Our boys ( 4yrs and 1yr ) particulary loved the play area and Charlottes trips to feed the hens and goats. Now we have found you we'll be back! Overall Rating: 5 Stars

A wonderful holiday property, set in beautiful surroundings. The facilities provided are excellent, above our expectations. We loved the cottage especially the secure fenced garden for the children to play in. The owners have thoughtfully put together these properties and are very gracious host. The little touches such as the communal childrens play area made the world of difference to us. We will be back!!! Overall Rating: 5 Stars
