Dairy Cottage is an attractive stone cottage enjoying rural views and with glimpses of Carisbrooke Castle from the master bedroom. The castle is within a 15 minute walk. The cottage is located at the heart of the Isle of Wight and within a short drive of the coast in any direction. Local walks follow the top of the Downs as far as Freshwater and Alum Bay and enjoy wonderful views all along the way.

This is a wonderful walking area with footpaths leading from close to the cottage towards the picturesque village of Godshill or the coastal village of Niton. There is also easy access to the cycle route which crosses the Island. The sandy beaches of Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor are all within a 15 minute drive.

The cottage occupies a delightful position on a lovely 12-acre farm, where horses are kept. The farm is surrounded by beautiful open countryside. It is a delightful walking area and visitors can follow footpaths over the Downs from close to the cottage. Great location for exploring the East of the Isle of Wight and only a short drive from Seaview or Shanklin. A nearby public house serves excellent food.

This delightful Grade II listed stone cottage has been sympathetically converted from the former stables of the nearby Apse Manor. Groom Cottage is a large property with thick stone walls, wooden beams and an attractive appearance with four gables. It nestles within an enclosed courtyard approached through a lovely arched entrance. The original building dates back to 1695, and period stone door surrounds and lintels can be seen on its south elevation. Parking available adjacent to the cottage. This lovely 17th century cottage is built of Island chalk and brick and enjoys beautiful views across nearby lakes and open countryside to Ventnor Downs. It is situated on a lovely farm in beautiful South Wight countryside. It is a marvellous walking area with footpaths that can be followed directly from the cottage in most directions. There are particularly attractive walks along the course of the river Yar, to the picturesque village of Godshill and to the nearby village of Arreton which has a public house, farm shop and cafe for meals. More extensive walks lead to the downs and visitors can join the renowned Stenbury and Worsley Trails. There is also direct access, across one of the farm fields, to an extensive cycle route which provides a lovely flat and easy route to interlink Sandown, Godshill, Newport and Cowes. The sandy beaches of Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor are within a 15 minute drive as is the market town of Newport with its medieval castle of Carisbrooke.
Visitors are free to stroll across the fields of the farm and around the lovely lakes in the grounds of the Manor House. There is an open grassland area near the lakes with open views where barbecues can be enjoyed. There is also a lovely nature trail on the farm so that visitors can enjoy the wonderful range of wild life – this includes herons, ducks and geese on the lakes; swallows and kestrels often nest in the barns; pheasants, foxes and badgers plus rabbits which abound. A small herd of cows is kept on the farm and there is a delightful area for children with small rare-breed bagot goats that will eat from the hand and rescued hens which are now free-range. Arrangements can be made for the storage of bikes.
Parlour Cottage has been converted with great care from an ancient barn and attention has been paid to retaining its character. It has been furnished and equipped to a very high standard in a traditional style. The front door opens into a lovely light and spacious sitting room with a dining area. This room is particularly attractive with a high vaulted beamed ceiling, several windows, and French doors opening into the rear garden. It is furnished with comfortable sofas, colour television/DVD player. An attractive staircase ascends to a delightful galleried landing which leads to a double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom with W.C. There are lovely views from the bedroom across the fields to the downs. On the ground floor there is a pretty twin bedroom and a separate bathroom with a bath, built in shower and W.C. The fitted kitchen is very well equipped with an electric cooker, ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and large fridge freezer. The cottage is centrally heated. Heating and electricity at no extra cost. Folding bed/wooden cot/high chair available. WiFi internet available.
Parlour Cottage has a south facing courtyard style garden with garden furniture. Cars can be parked beside the cottage and there is easy access into a larger fenced area of shared garden where children have space to play games and there are toy tractors for children to enjoy. Visitors can make arrangements to fish in beautiful lakes on the farm. Access to the farm is along a gravel lane. Public house and post office within 5 minutes drive. Regular bus service 15 minutes walk.
Parlour Cottage has ground floor accommodation and is a non smoking cottage. WiFi Internet is provided at a charge of £12.00 at Parlour Cottage. Parlour Cottage is available for weekly self catering holiday bookings from Saturday to Saturday. The normal arrival time at this holiday cottage is 15:30 and the normal departure time is 11:00.

Merstone is a beautiful rural area just outside of Godshill on the East of the Isle of Wight. The open countryside around Merstone is criss crossed with footpaths and cycle paths which makes it ideal those looking to explore the Isle of Wight.

There is a cycle track and wide walking routes running past Merstone. It was constructed on the old railway track and runs from Shanklin to Newport. There is also a footpath from Merstone to Godshill which is within a 25min walk.
