This idyllic, one bedroom, self catering wing located in an area of 'Outstanding Natural Beauty' near Godshill Village on the East of the Isle of Wight. The wing is part of the beautiful Godshill Park House which stands in four acres of grounds and surrounded by farmland. There are wonderful walking a cycling opportunities around the cottage and it is a pleasant walk to Godshill where there are pubs and restaurants.

This pretty cottage is attractively situated within a pleasant ten minute walk of the sandy beach of Ventnor or the quiet cove of Steephill on the south coast of the Island. Ventnor Park is at the rear of the cottage and paths lead through these gardens to the Esplanade. These gardens also adjoin the Botanical Garden of Ventnor which is renowned for its rare plants and the mild climate. The Clock House is one of a small group of cottages which have been converted from the original stables of Steephill Manor House.

The Paper Barn occupies a delightful position on a lovely 12-acre farm, where horses are kept. The farm is surrounded by beautiful open countryside. It is a delightful walking area and visitors can follow footpaths over the Downs from close to the cottage.
The Paper Barn adjoins Squire Thatcher’s Barn and sits at the edge of a lovely grassy courtyard which is often adorned by ducks. On the other sides oif the courtyard are the farmhouse, ancient threshing barn and six stables, where horses are kept. The cottage has been sensitively converted from an 18th century Grade II Listed stone barn. It has been furnished and equipped with care and has attractive open views at the rear, across fields to the Downs. The accommodation is all on the ground floor and follows an open plan design, which gives the feeling of space. There is a light and pleasant sitting room with comfortable sofas, television, DVD and a hi-fi system. The floor in this area is attractively furnished with rugs over the original flagstones. There is a pleasant dining area and fitted kitchen with electric cooker and hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer and washer/dryer. The cottage has two attractive bedrooms - one double and one twin room plus a bathroom with a bath and overhead shower. Travel cot/highchair can be provided. Electric heaters keep the cottage warm in colder weather. Heating and electricity are provided free of charge. The cottage has a wireless broadband internet (WiFi) connection available at a small extra charge.
There is a lovely terrace at the rear of Paper Barn with wonderful open views across the lawn and fields towards the downs. Garden furniture is provided. A barbecue is available on request, free of charge. The lawned garden has a small pear tree and is a delighful place to relax. The Paper Barn is only a 10-minute walk from the lovely rural village of Newchurch, which has a good public house for meals. The sandy beaches of Sandown and Shanklin are a 10 minute drive away. The market town of Newport is within a 15 minute drive. Parking spaces for two cars adjacent to the garden. Access to the cottage is along a private lane which is bumpy in places. Rural bus service ¼ mile.
Paper Barn has ground floor accommodation and is a non smoking cottage. WiFi Internet is provided at a charge of £12.00 at Paper Barn. Paper Barn is available for weekly self catering holiday bookings from Saturday to Saturday. The normal arrival time at this holiday cottage is 15:00 and the normal departure time is 10:00. Short break weekend and midweek self catering holidays are available from 28th October 2017 to 21st December 2017, 6th January 2018 to 8th February 2018, 17th February 2018 to 22nd March 2018 and 27th October 2018 to 20th December 2018.

Newchurch is a quiet rural village with a beautiful church, excellent local public house and surrounded by beautiful countryside ideal for walking and cycling. Newchurch is a short distance from the East coast where there are sandy beaches. Shanklin and Sandown can be reached via the cycle path or can be reached by car in just a few minutes.

You can easily cycle to the beach at Sandown or head inland towards Newport where there are routes peeling off to Godshill, Wroxall, Cowes and most of the rest of the Isle of Wight. Local nature reserve - Alverstone Mead and the SSSI of Alverstone Marshes are within a short walk of Borthwood. Join the cycle track at Alverstone and head towards Sandown. You will cross the reserve along the way.

Paper Barn is a Grade II listed building of great charm and historic interest. Built in around 1790 as part of a traditional square farm courtyard. It has two bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs.
Access to Paper Barn is via a private road from the village of Newchurch. Buses from Newport or Sandown. The private road is a rural bridleway not paved, bumpy in places, but fully accessible by car at all times.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
There is adequate and easy car parking by the cottage. It is well signed and gravelled. It is about 20 metres from the door to the cottage. For those visitors who need it a car can be driven to the front door to drop those who would have trouble walking.
The entrance for the cottage is the back door and is up 1 step. For anybody for whom steps are difficult access is via the courtyard door which has no steps.

All downstairs rooms are flat and on a single level and easily accessible.

The main sitting room has adequate and comfortable seating for 4. It has views to the south over a farmyard. To the north there are glorious views over farmland to Arreton and Mersley Downs. At one end is a dining/ kitchen area on the same level.
There is a bathroom on the ground floor with a wash basin and toilet.
