This lovely stone cottage is situated in the small rural hamlet of Bowcombe which stands between the pretty village of Shorwell and Carisbrooke with its medieval castle. Shorwell and Carisbrooke are both within a 5 minute drive and have public houses which are good for meals. The cottage offers easy access to the small bays and coves on the south west side of the Isle of Wight. Brighstone beach is within a 10 minute drive and the larger sandy beaches of Ventnor and Shanklin are within a 20 minute drive.

This picturesque Grade II listed cottage dates back to 1676 and is attractively situated at the end of a quiet lane with a lovely ford and footpath leading to the nearby medieval castle of Carisbrooke. Located in the oldest part of Carisbrooke village which is a conservation area lying within ‘An area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'. The castle is only 5 minutes walk away and can be glimpsed from the garden and main bedrooms. This is a wonderful walking area as within 5 minutes walk of the cottage visitors can join the famous Tennyson Trail which follows the downs westerly towards The Needles.

Driftwood is within a three minute walk of the beach at Brighstone on the south west coast of the Isle of Wight – a quiet beach where swimming and paddling can be enjoyed. There are coastal or lovely downland views from most of the rooms. It has been furnished and equipped with care to provide lovely accommodation Wifi and telephone available. This farmhouse is attractively situated on the edge of the pretty village of Shalfleet towards the West side of the Isle of Wight. The cottage adjoins the grounds of Shalfleet Manor House and has its own private entrance into a quiet lane which leads from the village to a footpath on Newtown Creek. This estuary, which is only a few minutes walk from the farmhouse, is part of a National Nature Reserve and is in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Several secluded bays and beaches are within 10 minutes drive.

This delightful stone cottage which dates back to 1761 is built of Isle of Wight chalk and brick. Hackney Stable cottage is situated on a lovely farm in beautiful South Wight countryside. It is a marvellous walking area with footpaths that can be followed directly from the cottage in most directions. There are particularly attractive walks along the course of the river Yar, to the picturesque village of Godshill and to the nearby village of Arreton which has a public house, farm shop and cafe for meals. The cottage is excellent for cyclists as there is access to a network of cycle paths directly from the farm and arrangements can be make for the storage of bikes. The sandy beaches of Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor are all within a 15 minute drive. Ferries can be booked for you at greatly discounted prices.
This impressive stone cottage is situated in the centre of the picturesque village of Godshill - a village renowned for its charming hill top church, tea shops, chocolate shop, public houses, restaurant and gift shops. This is also a wonderful walking area. Nearby footpaths lead through woodland and across downs to Appuldurcombe and join the Tennyson trail which extends to the coast at St. Lawrence and Ventnor. The sandy beaches of Shanklin and Ventnor are within a 10 minute drive.
Christmas Cottage is a beautiful 400 year old cottage, Grade II listed, which has been furnished and equipped with great sensitivity and a wonderful use of colour. It is part of The House of Om which has a nearby art studio. The owner, Nicola Gibbs, is a professional artist and through her art workshops inspires people of all ages. The House of Om also offers facilities for involvement in mediation, aromatherapy, Indian head massage and Reiki healing.
Christmas Cottage provides delightful spacious accommodation with furnishings and artefacts from around the world. The cottage has been renovated with care to reveal beautiful stone fireplaces, ancient beams and flagstone floors. There are lovely cream fitted carpets throughout much of the cottage. On the ground floor there is a large open plan sitting room with sofas and chairs, a beautiful stone fire place, flat screen television/Freeview/DVD; a lovely dining area; an attractive kitchen with fitted units and a breakfast area, a gas cooker, microwave, Belfast sink and refrigerator (a freezer and washing machine are provided in a separate utility area); a charming twin bedroom and a large conservatory style room with a further area of comfortable seating and access to the garden. A door opens from a small passageway to reveal a staircase leading up to 3 delightful double bedrooms. The master bedroom is particularly spacious with a charming French style bed and an en-suite shower room with a built in shower, basin and WC. There is a family bathroom with a free standing Victorian style bath, basin and WC. A travel cot/high chair and a folding bed to enable two children to sleep separately can also be provided. Electricity and central heating at no extra charge up to temperatures of 21.5 degrees. If higher temperatures are required, additional heating charges apply at cost price. We regret that it is not possible to use the open fires. WiFi internet can be made available. Outside of popular periods, a reduced rental cost can be offered for groups of 6 or less, when using just the 3 upstairs bedrooms.
The cottage has a courtyard style garden with a covered pond, garden furniture and a barbecue so that meals can be enjoyed in the sunshine. A five minute walk also leads to a private woodland area with garden furniture where visitors can relax, enjoy a barbecue and children can play games. Here there are views across nearby fields and red squirrels can often be seen. Two cars can be parked to the rear of the cottage. Additional cars can be parked in a quiet lane within a 3 minute walk. There is a good bus service from Godshill to Shanklin, Ventnor and Newport. From Newport buses can be caught onwards to most parts of the island. The cottage is adjacent to a good restaurant. A nearby gallery offers arts classes . Small village shop and post office within a 2 minute walk.
Christmas Cottage is a non smoking cottage. WiFi Internet is provided at a charge of £12.00 at Christmas Cottage. Christmas Cottage is available for weekly self catering holiday bookings from Saturday to Saturday. The normal arrival time at this holiday cottage is 15:00 and the normal departure time is 10:00. Short break weekend and midweek self catering holidays are available from 28th October 2017 to 17th December 2017, 6th January 2018 to 8th February 2018, 17th February 2018 to 22nd March 2018 and 27th October 2018 to 20th December 2018.

Walk or Cycle to Shanklin - This walk first follows the Stenbury Trail to Wroxall and then the cycle track to Shanklin. To reach the Stenbury Trail from Godshill head out of town along the main road towards Shanklin before turning right after 200 yards onto the trail. Continue up the trail to the Freemantle Gate (photo of the Freemantle Gate) which you pass thought and follow the path which bears left across the fields towards Appuldurcombe and Wroxall. There is a wide flat cycle way that runs from Wroxall to Shanklin. The track starts below the old railway bridge in the centre of Wroxall. If you are walking there is a footpath leading from alongside the bridge to the start of the track but if you are on a bike you must cross the bridge and follow the cycle path signs. Once you are on the track it is clearly signposted all the way to Shanklin. The track runs along the old railway line and the banks on either side are lined with lush vegetation.

Two/three dogs are welcome by agreement. Pets can be left in the property in the kitchen if they are not noisy or destructive. Pets are not permitted upstairs, on the furniture or in the bedrooms. We also ask owners not to allow dogs to foul the garden. Puppies may be accepted by agreement if caged. Dogs with incontinence problems are not permitted without specific agreement. Please ensure that your pet's treatment for the prevention of fleas is up to date.
