There is easy access to the west side of the Island with its quiet sandy coves and the nearby National Nature reserve of Newtown – an area of outstanding Natural Beauty and a wonderful area for walking and bird watching. Cowes is a short drive away – a small town famous as a sailing centre with cobbled streets, pleasant small shops and several restaurants.

High Rising is an attractive detached house clad in Siberian Larch with lovely sea views from many of the rooms. It has been furnished and equipped with great care to provide attractive and comfortable accommodation of a very high standard. It has three bedrooms, all with en-suite bath or shower rooms. The house has been specially designed with large open plan areas and many windows to give a good feeling of space and light. This is accentuated by the attractive mix of real wood flooring and cream fitted carpets throughout the house. High Rising is furnished with a combination of modern furniture and antique items which have been in the family for generations.

On the ground floor the front hallway opens into a pleasant dining area with windows overlooking the garden. This is furnished with a wonderful antique oak table and chairs and a beautiful French dresser. Two steps lead down to a very delightful sitting room area with a views of the sea. The sitting room has large comfortable sofas, a big flat screen television/DVD/Freeview and a wood burning stove. A French door opens onto the terrace. WiFi internet is provided at no extra charge.

The kitchen is beautifully equipped with high quality fitted units, a gas hob, double oven, microwave, fridge freezer, dishwasher and an integral coffee machine. Washing machine/tumble dryer are in a separate utility room. There is also a ground floor cloakroom with a WC and basin. The house has three lovely bedrooms – on the ground floor there is a double bedroom with a king size bed and a spacious en-suite bathroom with a bath, overhead shower, basin & WC.

Upstairs there are two additional attractive bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms – one double room with a king size bed and one twin room. The double room enjoys sea views. Also upstairs there is a delightful second sitting room area with large windows overlooking the sea. Here visitors can relax and watch the yachts and boats passing. Adjoining this room is a balcony which is an attractive spot to sit on warm evenings. The house has been designed with energy efficiency in mind and has a highly effective underfloor central heating system and a soft water system which enables visitors to have constant hot water for baths and showers.

A folding bed, high chair and wooden cot can be provided. The wooden high chair and cot are both from John Lewis and the cot comes with a mattress, terry/waterproof protector and bed linen, a White Company quilted bumper, fleece cot blankets and duvet for your selection and an extra bath towel.

High Rising has a secluded fenced garden with a sunny terrace with garden furniture and a gas barbecue so that meals can be enjoyed outside. Jacuzzi available by prior arrangement at an additional cost. Parking is available for two cars. Public houses, restaurant, general stores, newsagents, telephone and bus service within 5 minutes walk.

High Rising has ground floor accommodation and is a non smoking cottage. WiFi Internet is provided free of charge at High Rising. High Rising is available for weekly self catering holiday bookings from Saturday to Saturday. The normal arrival time at this holiday cottage is 15:30 and the normal departure time is 10:00. Cowes is famous sailing mecca and attracts sailors from around the world for the Cowes Week festival. Naturally there is much more to this little town and many simply come to enjoy the small shops and boutique stores as well as the vibrant atmosphere. The coast line either side of Cowes makes for pleasant walking and it is possible to walk along to Ryde to the East or Gurnard to the West. A stretch of beach towards Gurnard is an enjoyable place to enjoy a picnic and watch the yachts, fishing boats and cruise liners.

North Isle of Wight Holiday Information

The North of the Isle of Wight is a wonderfully varied location with beautiful coastal areas and historic sites. The main towns in the North are Yarmouth in the North West, Gurnard and Cowes in the centre of the Northern coastline, and Ryde in the North East. There is a sandy beach at Ryde, a shingle and sand beach at Gurnard and a long shingle beach at Cowes.

The principle town here is Cowes where a vibrant sailing scene exists and culminates in the yearly Cowes Week festival. Yarmouth also enjoys a strong connection with the sea and has its own festival of Gaffers which attracts a large number of brightly decorated boats.

The inland areas of the North side of the Isle of Wight are known for their beautiful countryside. The estuary at Wootton is an important area for birds and views across the estuary are often enhanced by a number of bird species. Footpaths and cycle tracks are numerous in the area and a great way to see the beauty on the North of the Isle of Wight.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

  • Parking is in front of the house on a brick fore court; there is room for two cars one behind the other.
  • There is also street parking.
  • The entrance at the front door has 1 step – 20cm high, 60cm deep, 105cm wide. There is a double door, 100cm wide.
  • Parking is 10 metres away from the entrance.
  • The entrance is reached through the car park via a path 1 metre wide level and even.

Main Entrance & Reception

  • Inside the front entrance is the entrance hall. This leads to the kitchen, dining room, utility room, downstairs bedroom, downstairs toilet and stairs, all at the same level.
  • The staircase is a single flight to the first floor landing. The stairs are 20cm high, 30cm deep, 97cm wide. There is a hand rail on the left hand side.
  • From the first floor landing, which is also an upstairs sitting room with sea views, there is access to the two upstairs en-suite bedrooms all on one level.

Dining Room & Lounge

  • Door width 79cm
  • The dining room is open plan with the lounge.
  • Rectangle antique able (unmoveable) – legs on each corner, 70cm floor to lowest point of table (under space), 1.0 metres long, with two 60 cm extensions.1.5 metres wide and 80cm high
