The cottage (it's really a ground-floor flat within a country house) was very nicely equipped and furnished with high quality linen and kitchenware, and beautifully situated in the owner's extensive gardens. This superb wing of an impressive Regency manor house is approached by a sweeping drive. The house is set amidst beautiful gardens and surrounded by wonderful countryside. It is a marvellous walking and cycling area with almost immediate access to the renowned Stenbury Trail, Yar River Trail and Isle of Wight Sunshine Trail Cycle route. It is a pleasant 10 minute stroll to Appuldurcombe House or to the centre of Godshill with its picturesque thatched cottages, wonderful church, tea shops and public houses and restaurant for meals. The sandy beaches of Shanklin, Sandown and Ventnor are within a 15 minute drive.

Godshill Park House Wing provides stylish, self contained accommodations of a very high standard which is all on one level. There is a charming sitting room with deep carpets, cushions and sofas, plus a flat screen television/Freeview/DVD; a dining area in an impressive bay window overlooking the garden; a galley style fitted kitchen with oak worktops, blue and white tiles, a stainless steel sink, electric cooker and hob, microwave, refrigerator, freezer and washer dryer; a well equipped bathroom with a bath, overhead shower, basin and WC; a splendid spacious bedroom with a king size bed, Egyptian cotton sheets, beautiful curtains and a wardrobe. An additional single bed can be made available to this room. Electric heating, travel cot/high chair and WiFi internet can be provided without extra charge. Radio and CD player available as well as books and games.

The Wing has a private secluded terrace with garden furniture and a barbecue and visitors are also welcome to use the large lawns at the front of the house. A car can be parked close to the wing or in the small garage. The garage can alternatively be used for the storage of bicycles, small dingeys and beach equipment. Regular bus service to Shanklin/Newport with interconnections to most parts of the Isle of Wight within a 5 minute walk.

Local Walk From Godshill

Walk or Cycle to Shanklin - This walk first follows the Stenbury Trail to Wroxall and then the cycle track to Shanklin. To reach the Stenbury Trail from Godshill head out of town along the main road towards Shanklin before turning right after 200 yards onto the trail. Continue up the trail to the Freemantle Gate (photo of the Freemantle Gate) which you pass thought and follow the path which bears left across the fields towards Appuldurcombe and Wroxall. There is a wide flat cycle way that runs from Wroxall to Shanklin. The track starts below the old railway bridge in the centre of Wroxall. If you are walking there is a footpath leading from alongside the bridge to the start of the track but if you are on a bike you must cross the bridge and follow the cycle path signs. Once you are on the track it is clearly signposted all the way to Shanklin. The track runs along the old railway line and the banks on either side are lined with lush vegetation.
