There are particularly attractive walks along the course of the river Yar; to the picturesque village of Godshill and to the nearby village of Arreton which has a pub and cafe for meals.

The surrounding fields are home to horses which belong to a small nearby riding school. Here you are in lovely countryside but the centre of the picturesque village of Godshill, with its pretty thatched cottages, restaurants and tea shops is only 3/4 mile away.

There are wonderful open views from the cottage and garden across fields towards the downs. The Old Brew House is at the end of a country lane with no passing traffic. This is a wonderful walking area with footpaths leading along the course of the River Yar and to the nearby picturesque village of Godshill. There is direct access across the fields to the cycle track which links Sandown to Newport and Cowes. The sandy beaches of Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor are only a 15 minute drive away.

This delightful Grade II listed stone cottage has been sympathetically converted from the former stables of the nearby Apse Manor. It nestles within an enclosed courtyard approached through a lovely large arched entrance. The original building dates back to 1695, and period stone door surrounds and lintels can be seen on its south elevation. Deceptively spacious, Groom Cottage has thick stone walls, wooden beams and an attractive appearance with four gables.

Two Mead Cottage is one of a pair of cottages which stand in the attractive rural hamlet of Alverstone and is less than a 5 minute drive from the lovely sandy beaches of Sandown on the east coast of the Island. The cottage is located on a small 12 acre farm which is home to horses, cows and a few free range chickens. The farm is in “An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty” and has a charming large pond which attracts ducks, moorhens and the occassional heron.

There are many footpaths leading up on to the downs and towards the coast.
