This small coastal cottage stands adjacent to the coastal path in the picturesque area of Luccombe on the south east coast of the Isle of Wight. It offers a wonderful peaceful retreat for 2 people with a fenced garden, double bedroom, sitting room, fitted kitchen and separate shower room. The small seaside village of Bonchurch and the larger resort of Shanklin are both within a delightful 20 to 25 minute walk. The foot paths go through some beautiful woodland and offer views of the sea at various points. The cottage overlooks an open field and is a superb spot for watching a variety of wild life including Red Squirrels, badgers and birds. This charming cottage is situated in the picturesque coastal area of Luccombe amidst beautiful countryside - on the south east coast of the Isle of Wight. It is a delightful peaceful spot within a 25 minute walk of the small coastal village of Bonchurch and the larger seaside resort of Shanklin with its beautiful sandy bay, entertainments, restaurants and wine bars. Dunnose Field Cottage stands adjacent to the coastal path. This is a beautiful area of coastal path with meandering woodland paths and open areas where the sea can be seen. The peacefulness of the area attracts badgers, red squirrels and a great variety of birds. Visitors can often watch this wildlife from the cottage and its garden.

This lovely pink walled cottage has been furnished and equipped with care to provide attractive and comfortable accommodation for 2 people. The front door opens in a fitted kitchen equipped with an electric oven, ceramic hob, microwave, refrigerator, small freezer and washing machine. There is a shower room with a built in shower, wc, basin and heated towel rail; one step down leads to the sitting room with a sofa, flat screen television/Freesat/DVD; a small dining area, and a charming small bedroom with a double bed and fitted wardrobe. All the rooms have open views across the garden. Electric convector heaters keep the cottage warm. Heating and electricity without extra charge.

The cottage has a secluded fenced garden and overlooks a large open field. Garden furniture and a parasol are provided so that meals can be enjoyed in the sunshine. Sun loungers are provided and it is possible to relax and enjoy watching the sunrise. In the late evening badgers can often be seen. Visitors can park beside the cottage to unload and at other times can park in a fenced and gated area within a ½ minute walk of the cottage. This forms part of the larger grounds of Dunnose Magna – a beautiful large manor house style property. The cottage is approached via a country gravel lane which is not suitable for low profile cars. Public houses, restaurants and shops are within a 5 minute drive at both Ventnor and Shanklin. Bus service within 15 minutes walk.

Shanklin is most famous for the long beach of golden sand and historic village centre. This idyllic self catering holiday location is on the East of the Isle of Wight and has excellent access to the other beaches on the East coast. There are a number of shops and restaurants in Shanklin village or down on the seafront.

Shanklin has a number of worthy attractions including Shanklin Old Town with pretty thatched buildings and number of traditional small shops selling local produce and traditional sweets. A pleasent area of gardens is also found nearby and these can be enjoyed on the way down to the sea.

Dunnose Field Cottage Specific Pet and Dog Information

One medium sized dog or two small dogs are welcome at Dunnose Field Cottage. Puppies and also dogs with incontinence problems are not permitted without specific agreement. Dogs should not be left on their own in the cottage unless this is specifically agreed. Please do not allow pets in the bedroom or on the furniture. Please do not allow pets to foul the garden and be aware that there are sheep and cattle in surrounding fields. The gardens are fenced but are not dog proof. There are wonderful walks directly from the property which is a adjacent to the coastal path. In this area the coastal path is not close to the cliff edge but extends through woodland to Ventnor and Shanklin. Please ensure that your pet's treatment for the prevention of fleas is up to date.

  • Pets can only be brought to a cottage if entered on the booking form and with the consent of the owner.
  • Do not allow dogs upstairs or on the furniture or in the bedrooms.
  • We also ask owners not to leave dogs on their own in the cottage and not to allow them to foul the garden, and to clean up after them.
  • Puppies and also dogs with incontinence problems are not permitted without specific agreement. If your dog is under 1 year old, please specify if they are caged at night or when left unattended.

Introduction

  • Dunnose Field Cottage is a perfect little get away cottage in a peaceful rural setting. Approached via a 1/2 mile long single track driveway. lt is 5 minute drive from the coastal town of Ventnor.
  • The cottage sleeps two and is pet friendly.

Pre-Arrival

  • For full details and maps of how to reach us please see the directions section of our website. Alternatively, you can plan your journey by car or public transport using www.transportdirect.info; simply enter your postcode and ours which is P037 6RW to get directions.
  • The nearest railway station is Shanklin which is 3 miles away ( a ten minute taxi ride). Taxis are available at the station.lf you require an accessible taxi this can be booked in advance, Door to Door 077 100 84211.
  • The nearest bus stop is at the top of the lane. The surface is uneven and sloping.
  • There is a mobility centre in Regent Street Shanklin.

Key Collection, Welcome and Car Parking

  • The car park has a gravelled surface with no marked bays. The car park is about 100m from the cottage. The cottage is accessed via the coastal footpath that has an unmade and uneven surface. There are no street lights. A torch is provided under the kitchen sink.
  • The owners live on site and will greet you and provide you with the key. If you have any queries or problems please raise these at the time.

Entrance to Property

  • The front door is 78cm wide. The front of the cottage has a gravel surface and there is a gentle slope to the front door. There are two manually operated outside lights (an outside door light and flood light ).

Halls, Stairs, Landings, Passageways

  • The front door opens directly into the kitchen that has a tiled floor. There is one step up into the lounge/ dining room that is
  • 13 cm high the width of the opening is 78 cm.

Sitting Room/Lounge

  • The lounge/ dining room has a two seater sofa, 43cm in height.
  • There is a bookcase, shelving and side tables. A small dining table and two folding chairs.
  • Lighting is natural daylight and by night there are table lamps and recessed spot lights.
  • There is a flat screen television with integrated DVD player.
  • The floor is covered with a cord style carpet.

Kitchen

  • The work top height in the kitchen us 92.5 cm. There is an under counter fridge and washing machine. The oven is freestanding, with a separate grill function.
  • There are a mixture of wall and base cupboards.
  • A freezer is located in the adjacent shed.

Bedrooms and Sleeging Areas

  • The bedroom is a small room with a maximum width of 31 cm around the bed in places. The bed is a standard double, 51cm in height.
  • The doorway to the bedroom is 64cm.
  • The carpet is cord style.
  • There is natural light and by night there are side lamps and recessed spot lights.
  • A recessed wardrobe with a small chest of drawers provides storage.

Bathrooms, Shower-rooms and Toilets

  • There is one bathroom with shower cubicle, toilet and hand basin unit.
  • The doorway to the bathroom is 64cm. This is accessed from the kitchen.
  • The shower cubicle has a 25cm step into it.
  • Toilet 42 cm high.
  • Toilet height is 88cm
  • Flooring is tiled
  • Wall mounted electric towel rail.

Garden

  • The garden is on a slight incline. The surfaces are a mixture of grass and gravel.
  • Wrought iron table and chairs are provided along with deck chairs.
  • There is a raised flower bed.
  • A panelled fence, stock proof fencing and a metal gate provide the boundary structures.The garden overlooks the owner's field.

Additional Information

  • Dogs are welcome.
  • There is good contrast between walls and flooring.
  • The mobile signal is limited and Vodaphone is the only reliable network provider.
