This lovely stone cottage is situated in the small rural hamlet of Bowcombe which stands between the pretty village of Shorwell and Carisbrooke with its medieval castle. Shorwell and Carisbrooke are both within a 5 minute drive and have public houses which are good for meals. The cottage offers easy access to the small bays and coves on the south west side of the Isle of Wight. Brighstone beach is within a 10 minute drive and the larger sandy beaches of Ventnor and Shanklin are within a 20 minute drive.

This picturesque Grade II listed cottage dates back to 1676 and is attractively situated at the end of a quiet lane with a lovely ford and footpath leading to the nearby medieval castle of Carisbrooke. Located in the oldest part of Carisbrooke village which is a conservation area lying within ‘An area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'. The castle is only 5 minutes walk away and can be glimpsed from the garden and main bedrooms. This is a wonderful walking area as within 5 minutes walk of the cottage visitors can join the famous Tennyson Trail which follows the downs westerly towards The Needles.

Driftwood is within a three minute walk of the beach at Brighstone on the south west coast of the Isle of Wight – a quiet beach where swimming and paddling can be enjoyed. This is “An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty“ and a delightful walking area. Driftwood is attractively situated in a small courtyard of cottages. There are coastal or lovely downland views from most of the rooms. It has been furnished and equipped with care to provide lovely accommodation Wifi and telephone available. This farmhouse is attractively situated on the edge of the pretty village of Shalfleet towards the West side of the Isle of Wight. The cottage adjoins the grounds of Shalfleet Manor House and has its own private entrance into a quiet lane which leads from the village to a footpath on Newtown Creek. This estuary, which is only a few minutes walk from the farmhouse, is part of a National Nature Reserve and is in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Several secluded bays and beaches are within 10 minutes drive.

This delightful stone cottage which dates back to 1761 is built of Isle of Wight chalk and brick. Hackney Stable cottage is situated on a lovely farm in beautiful South Wight countryside. It is a marvellous walking area with footpaths that can be followed directly from the cottage in most directions. There are particularly attractive walks along the course of the river Yar, to the picturesque village of Godshill and to the nearby village of Arreton which has a public house, farm shop and cafe for meals. The cottage is excellent for cyclists as there is access to a network of cycle paths directly from the farm and arrangements can be make for the storage of bikes. The sandy beaches of Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor are all within a 15 minute drive. Ferries can be booked for you at greatly discounted prices.
This charming stone villa stands in the old village of Shanklin - a picturesque area with pretty thatched cottages, tea shops and a beautiful ‘chine’. The sandy beach for which Shanklin is renowned is within a 5 minute walk. The sand here gently slopes into the water - paddling, swimming and boating can be enjoyed as well as crazy golf and a variety of seaside entertainments. Restaurants, public houses and the shops of the main part of town are all within a few minutes walk plus a good bus service and a train service which links with ferries to the mainland.
Chine Side has recently been skillfully restored to its former glory. It is a substantial, spacious property with beautiful tiled floors, marble and ornate fireplaces, deep carpets and several delightful stained glass windows. This charming property provides elegant accommodation with a traditional ‘Country House’ feel, furnished and equipped to the highest standards.
On the ground floor there is a dining room where more formal meals can be enjoyed; a wonderful sitting room with large leather sofas, a wood burning stove, flat screen television/DVD/FreeSat and French doors which open on to a delightful balcony overlooking the garden; an attractive area for informal dining; a well equipped fitted kitchen with wooden units, a double oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator; a utility area with a washer/dryer and freezer; a newly equipped shower room with walk in shower, basin and WC. Stairs lead up to four beautiful bedrooms – a master bedroom with a king size double bed and en-suite shower room with walk in shower, basin and WC; a second charming double room with an en-suite bathroom with a bath, overhead shower, basin and WC; a lovely twin room with a zip and link bed which can be joined to form a super king double bed, a fourth bedroom with a substantial full size bunk bed. Central heating and electricity are provided at no extra charge. WiFi internet available. Cot and high chair can be provided.
There is level access to Chine Side from the front of the property where there is ample parking area for 2 cars behind impressive iron gates. A door opens from the entrance hall to the south facing rear garden and stone steps leads lead down to a beautiful garden which seems to offer an oasis of tranquillity. A pretty stream flows through the garden and paths meander through various different levels with secluded spots to relax with garden seats, water features and ponds amidst the well established shrubs, Acers and trees. There is a terrace with garden furniture and barbecue and meals can also be enjoyed on the balcony overlooking the garden.
The accommodation of Chine Side is on two floors with level access from the front drive and exclusive use of the main garden. A third floor beneath the main house can be reached through a doorway to the side of the drive. From here a private external staircase leads down to a basement level apartment with a secluded terrace. The quiet couple who own the property have retained this for their own use.
Chine Side makes a wonderful venue for Christmas & New Year as 'Shanklin Old Village' is particularly attractive and festive at this time and the house is decorated for Christmas with a tree and decorations.
Chine Side is a non smoking cottage. WiFi Internet is provided at Chine Side. Chine Side is available for weekly self catering holiday bookings from Saturday to Saturday. The normal arrival time at this holiday cottage is 16:00 and the normal departure time is 10:00. Short break weekend and midweek self catering holidays are available from 30th October 2017 to 17th December 2017, 5th January 2018 to 8th February 2018, 17th February 2018 to 22nd March 2018 and 27th October 2018 to 20th December 2018.

Shanklin is most famous for the long beach of golden sand and historic village centre. This idyllic self catering holiday location is on the East of the Isle of Wight and has excellent access to the other beaches on the East coast. There are a number of shops and restaurants in Shanklin village or down on the seafront.
Shanklin has a number of worthy attractions including Shanklin Old Town with pretty thatched buildings and number of traditional small shops selling local produce and traditional sweets. A pleasent area of gardens is also found nearby and these can be enjoyed on the way down to the sea.
