This delightful cottage is very attractively situated in a peaceful rural hamlet in beautiful countryside but is only 1.5 miles from the lovely sandy beach of Shanklin, a small coastal town with a variety of restaurants and entertainments. The neighbouring seaside towns of Sandown and Ventnor are within an easy 10 minute drive. The cottage is in a good walking area with nearby footpaths leading to woodland and to the downs above Ventnor.

This lovely stone cottage was originally a large and ancient stone barn at Sainham Farm. It is situated in the attractive courtyard and has marvellous open views from the rear across the fields to the downs. Stag Cottage is in one of the loveliest parts of the Island lying at the foot of Appuldurcome Down and above the picturesque village of Godshill in ‘An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'. Godshill can be reached by taking a pleasant stroll through the beech copse and across the fields. The village has a variety of tea shops and restaurants as well as two public houses.

Lovely traditional cottage with beautiful rural views, across fields to nearby downs, from all of the main rooms in the cottage. It is delightfully situated on a small 12 acre farm which is home to horses. This is a wonderful walking and cycling area. Footpaths can be followed across beautiful countryside directly from the cottage and these is easy access to a cycle path which links the seaside resort of Sandown with the pretty villages of Newchurch and Godshill and then extends to the market town of Newport with its lovely medieval castle of Carisbrooke. The cottage is within a 10 minute drive of the sandy beaches of Sandown and Shanklin. The accommodation is all on one level and the cottage has been furnished and equipped to a high standard. A nearby public house serves excellent food.

This pretty Swiss style cottage is situated in the lovely gardens of Ventnor Park. These gardens have sheltered lawns, well kept paths and excellent 18 hole putting green. Nearby footpaths lead up to high ground from where there are beautiful sea views. The sandy beach of Ventnor can be reached by taking a pleasant 5 minute stroll through the gardens and down to the esplanade. Footpaths also lead directly from the cottage to the quiet cove of Steephill and the Botanical Gardens.

Baltija is beautifully situated in the wonderful semi rural coastal area of St Lawrence on the south of the Island. St Lawrence is renowned for it mild climate and is an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’. Lanes and footpaths can be followed directly from the property to the sea at Woody Bay which is a ten to fifteen minute walk away.
Britannias is superbly situated, within just a few steps of the beach, on the Esplanade at Ventnor a famous Victorian health resort on the south coast of the Isle of Wight. It’s the perfect location for those who want luxury seafront accommodation and as a base with everything within easy walking distance. Ventnor has a distinctive Mediterranean feel, with its mild micro climate and properties set into the hillside on the south side of St Boniface down. It has a particularly beautiful beach, good for swimming, kayaking, fishing or just paddling. Coastal boat and fishing trips can also be enjoyed from the bay. Britannias has wonderful sea views from all main rooms and a delightful 10 metre terrace so that visitors can kick back and relax with a glass of wine or maybe dine alfresco whilst overlooking the sea. It’s also the perfect spot to enjoy a spot of people watching from up high.
On the Esplanade itself there are a variety of restaurants, a wine bar and a public house with tables right next to the sea. A few minutes away is Ventnor Haven Fishery where local fishermen sell their fresh fish, lobster and crab on a daily basis which you can take home and eat. Wonderful coastal walks can be enjoyed directly from the property - westwards to the beautiful Steephill Cove and eastwards the coastal path leads to Bonchurch, Luccombe and onwards to Shanklin and Sandown Bay. A zig-zag path leads up from Ventnor Esplanade to the small town centre – with its various small shops, restaurants bowling green and botanical gardens.
The sandy beach is perfect for children and has a lifeguard on duty during the Summer, the beach has won a quality award for water purity. There is also a children’s paddling pool a few mins walk down the Esplanade where parents can enjoy a drink while letting the children play!
Britannias has been newly newly refurbished and equipped with care to provide luxury accommodation with wonderful open sea views from most of the main rooms. Bi-fold doors and windows, in the open plan living room, can be folded back making the terrace feel part of the room. The living room has a delightful sitting area with a sofa and arm chairs, flat screen television/Sky/DVD/Wii; a dining area and a well equipped fitted kitchen with an integrated electric oven and hob, dishwasher and refrigerator (a separate utility room houses the freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer). It also has a microwave and Nespresso machine with starter pods. There are three lovely bedrooms – a double bedroom with fabulous sea views and an en-suite bathroom with a bath, basin and w.c.; a twin bedroom with sea views and an en-suite shower room with built in shower, basin and w.c.; a spacious single bedroom with side sea view plus a family bathroom with a bath, overhead shower, basin and wc. All bathrooms also include luxury complimentary toiletries and waffle spa towels. Travel cot/high chair can be made available. Unlimited Wifi, central heating and electricity are provided without extra charge. (Visitors with mobility issues should be aware that although the accommodation is all on one level inside, 8 steps lead up to the front door).
Britannias south facing terrace is a superb feature of the property - a delightful place for visitors to relax whilst enjoying the wonderful sea views. Outdoor seating and barbecue are provided for alfresco meals in the sunshine plus an electric retractable awning for shade during hot weather. Free car parking is available on the Esplanade from November to March. Outside of this period a complimentary parking ticket is provided for one car in the car park - less than a 1 minute walk away. A bus service, with a 10 minute walk, links Ventnor with Newport, Shanklin and onwards to most parts of the island plus easy links via a train service from Shanklin to Ryde with fast hover craft and catamaran services to the mainland with interlinking train services to London.
Please note that the premises above Britannias run spa treatments during the afternoon in the spring and summer. Treatments during your stay can be booked through The Cabin at www.thecabin-ventnor.co.uk however due to popularity we recommend booking in advance of your holiday.
Britannias is a non smoking cottage. WiFi Internet is provided free of charge at Britannias. Britannias is available for weekly self catering holiday bookings from Friday to Friday. The normal arrival time at this holiday cottage is 15:00 and the normal departure time is 10:00. Short break weekend and midweek self catering holidays are available from 17th February 2017 to 30th March 2017, 31st March 2017 to 20th April 2017, 21st April 2017 to 25th May 2017, 2nd June 2017 to 13th July 2017, 1st September 2017 to 19th October 2017 and 27th October 2017 to 17th December 2017.

The South of the Isle of Wight is a wonderful mix of pretty beaches and dramatic coastal landscape. The sand and shingle beach at Ventnor is one of the more popular holiday locations but hidden gems such as Bonchurch and Steephill Cove are really worth a visit too.
The coastal path around the South Coast of the Isle of Wight is a particularly beautiful stretch to explore and passes a number of attractive sites which include Steephill Cove, Orchard Bay and St Catherine's Light House at Niton Undercliff. Some of this area has been prone to erosion so you must stick to the footpath and take heed of diversions.

Two dogs are welcome. Pets are not permitted on the furniture or in the bedrooms. We also ask owners not to leave dogs on their own in the property and not to allow them to foul the garden. Puppies and also dogs with incontinence problems are not permitted without specific agreement. Please ensure that your pet's treatment for the prevention of fleas is up to date. From Brittanias there are numerous walks in either direction, dogs are allowed on the main beach between 1st October and 1st April. During these times dogs can go on the next beach along which is a short 5 minute walk in front of the car park. Most pubs and restaurants in Ventnor are family and dog friendly.
