This elegant villa is situated close to the centre of the attractive coastal town of Yarmouth and is within a few minutes stroll of the beautiful River Yar. This is a wonderful walking area with footpaths very close to the house joining the coastal path and meandering beside the river towards Freshwater where there is a good public house for lunch. The river is a haven for a wide range of birds and dragonflies. The town of Yarmouth is a fashionable sailing centre with a variety of restaurants, public houses and small interesting shops. The sandy bays of Colwell and Totland are within a 5 minute drive - here swimming, boating and fishing can be enjoyed.
Belmont is an attractive double fronted villa which was built during the time of Queen Victoria’s residence on the Island at Osborne House. It has been renovated to a very high standard and is beautifully furnished and equipped. The house is very spacious and has light and airy rooms which are centrally heated and double-glazed. The house accommodates 7 + 1 in four very attractive bedrooms. On the ground floor there is a beautiful open plan kitchen and very attractive dining area. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped with fitted units, a sink, electric cooker and hob, microwave, dishwasher and large American style fridge freezer. The washing machine is housed in a separate utility area and visitors also have access to a tumble dryer. A door opens from the kitchen into a pleasant conservatory with comfortable seating – a good place to relax overlooking the garden. There is a separate spacious living room comprising a dining area for more formal meals and sitting room with a large comfortable sofa, arm chairs, flat screen television, Freeview/DVD and a flame effect gas fire. Patio doors open from here into the lovely garden. Also on the ground floor is a second sitting room with a sofa, desk and television; a cloakroom with a w.c. and basin. Upstairs there are 4 delightful bedrooms. A spacious double room overlooking the garden with a King size bed and beautifully equipped shower room with a large walk in shower, basin and w.c.; a second lovely double room; a spacious twin room; a single room with a pull out bed which can accommodate an additional person; a family bathroom with a bath, built in shower, basin and w.c. Belmont Villa has a delightful large fenced garden which is fully enclosed with areas of lawn and attractive shrubberies. There is also a pleasant patio area with garden furniture and a charcoal/gas? barbecue. A garage is available for guests to use for the storage of bikes. A garden gate opens onto a private parking area for two cars. An additional two cars can be parked in front of the garages. This parking area is approached by an unmade gravel lane. Regular bus service and boat to the mainland within 5 minutes walk. Public houses, restaurants and general stores all within a few minutes walk. Yarmouth is a pretty seaside town on the North West coast of the Isle of Wight. Yarmouth has a good range of small shops and public houses. An excellent seafood restaurant, famous for numbering royalty amongst their customers, is well worth a visit. A historic castle at Yarmouth enjoys a beautiful view of the Solent.
Every summer the town hosts Gaffers Week, a traditional sailing boat festival for which Yarmouth puts on entertainments, music, street market and much more.
From Yarmouth one can take the cycle/foot path to Freshwater which runs alongside the estuary. This is a great way to visit one of the best public houses on the Isle of Wight called the Red Lion at Freshwater. Follow the cycle track or footpath as far as the stone bridge (about 15 minute walk) and turn right onto the road crossing the bridge. Follow the road past a Second World War pill box and up to the church and the pub. The Red Lion has good food and an attractive beer garden with rural views.

Red Lion Public House, Freshwater - The Red Lion is a traditional public house serving great food using local produce and local caught seafood. The Red Lion is in the neigbouring small town of Freshwater but their is a lovely estuary side walk which runs from Yarmouth. To walk simply follow the marked cycle route in the direction of Freshwater till you reach the small road bridge. Turn right, cross the bridge and continue for 200 yards to the pub. New Inn, Shalfleet - A lovely village pub within a 10min drive of Yarmouth along the road to Newport. The New Inn has an excellent menu of local produce and locally caught seafood. A warm and friendly atmosphere with a log fire lit on cooler days makes this a lovely place to stop at as part of a walk in the area. New Inn Public House Website.
The West of the Isle of Wight is best known for its unspoilt nature and dramatic coastline. The areas is far less commercialised and the many of the beaches can be enjoyed almost to ones self. West Isle of Wight beaches include Totland Bay, Freshwater Bay, Compton Beach, Brook Beach and Bembridge Beach.
Inland are the Tennyson Downs which connect Alum Bay to Carisbrooke. The Downs make a lovely walk even if you choose only to do a short part of them. Cycle paths and footpaths are especially nermourous in this part of the Isle of Wight. View more West Isle of Wight Cottages
