This quaint cottage is attractively situated within a ten-minute stroll of the beach of Ventnor or the quiet cove of Steephill on the south coast of the Island. Ventnor Park is at the rear of the cottage and paths lead through these gardens to the Esplanade. These gardens also adjoin the Botanical Garden of Ventnor which is renowned for its rare plants and the mild climate. The Clock House is one of a small group of cottages which have been converted from the original stables of Steephill Castle.

The Clock House is a spacious one bedroom cottage which has been furnished and equipped with great care. It is centrally heated and the accommodation is all on the ground floor. There is an exceptionally large double bedroom with an attractive beamed ceiling. A door leads from the bedroom into a Victorian conservatory with a tiled floor, and French doors lead from here into the garden. There is a spacious bathroom with a deep Victorian bath with ball and claw feet, a built in shower, sink and WC, plus a dressing room area with wardrobes.

The cottage has an open plan kitchen and dining area with a stunning bay window, with leaded lights and comfortable seating. The kitchen boasts a large pine dresser and is equipped with a gas cooker, microwave, refrigerator with freezer section and washing machine. There is a welcoming sitting room where visitors can relax on sofas in front of an open fire during colder weather. This room also has a flat screen television.

French doors open onto a south-facing walled garden, complete with garden furniture at the rear of the cottage. There is a private, gated courtyard at the front of the cottages and two cars can be parked beside The Clock House. Shops, restaurants and a public house are within a ten-minute walk. Public transport is a three-minute walk away from the cottage.

This is a really lovely spacious holiday home with a touch of luxury, beautifully decorated and comfortable. The quiet location is perfect- handy for the Botanical Gardens, Steephill Cove and a lovely park. The private garden and sunny conservatory were especially appreciated. We would recommend Clocktower Cottages to anyone.

The cottage is very quaint and positioned in a pretty area right next to the park. Artistic pictures and fittings make it cosy and there is plenty of space to relax. This was a lovely cottage to stay in. Having a private enclosed garden was great. We could sit out in the evenings with cheese and wine and move to the conservatory when the air started to chill. The close vicinity of the coastal path was good for us being walkers. The bus service on the island is also really good. An amazing characterful property. We chose this cottage over others in the group because of the lovely private garden that we made much use of. Situated in a lovely quiet residential area but still only a ten minute walk from the town centre and beach.

Quite the most stylish and beautifully furnished place we have stayed at. The sitting room is slightly below the par of the other rooms, the sofa in particular needs attention, grubby and very worn. Spacious and generally well equipped, comfortable flat in a great location for exploring the Island, and with good walks from the door. Let down by a problematic hot water system which renders it almost impossible to have an adequate, comfortable shower.

Plus points are the large amount of space & garden & its location. Negative points are, there was no door on the bedroom through to the kitchen/dining area, not even a curtain as the pictures show & no blind on the bedroom skylight thus making it difficult to sleep once the sun was up. The shower was unable to maintain a steady temperature & the beRead moredroom too dark to read in at night. As charming as the cottage appears I think some modernisation would make for a more comfortable stay. Hide

A gem of a place, quirky, but nicely so. Clearly recently redecorated throughout, well equipped. Furniture comfortable. The conservatory is a great place for a read even when weather is adverse, and the garden is a bonus. Well placed to walk into Ventnor -- no need to drive.
