Bembridge Beach

Ed 14 May 2018

Bembridge is home to a lovely Isle of Wight beach that unfurls around the headland. This section of coast offers spectacular scenery and great places to unwind or play, sunbathe and listen to the waves. The sea shore is within easy walking distance from the centre of Bembridge if you need to pop to the local shops or the pub. This pebble and sand beach is favoured by visitors and locals alike for paddling or swimming because it is reasonably sheltered.

Bembridge Lifeboat Station

Despite it being predominantly pebbly, if you are visiting at low tide you will see the swathe of sand that emerges from below the high-water mark. You can also explore the myriad of rockpools there too. This stretch of coastline offers some lovely walks with views across The Solent to Portsmouth, as well as the sight of many yachts and ships leaving its distant harbour. The beach is also characterised by the iconic lifeboat station, situated at the end of a 200-metre long pier, allowing for boat launches beyond a treacherous ridge of rocks just off the coast.

There is a café at the southerly end of Bembridge Beach providing light lunches and refreshments. Pay and display parking is also available at both ends of the beach. There are no dog restrictions at this beach, so feel free to exercise your four-legged friend to their heart’s content.

Please read the beach safety notices at Bembridge Beach concerning local sea conditions.
