Ventnor is well know for a unique micro climate which makes it mild all year around. This made it a natural choice of location for Ventnor Botanical Gardens which display a great variety of plants from all over the world.
Ventnor attracts holiday makers partly due to its beach which sits in a sheltered bay. The beach is backed with a selection of eating and drinking establishments as well as a small beach shop selling seaside essentials.
Above the beach, up on the cliffs, lies the town centre which has a good range of cafes and restaurants as well as a supermarket and all the essential services.
Walking either way down the coast from Ventnor makes a pleasant easy stroll and heading north east will bring you to Bonchurch and West will bring you to the Bontaincal Gardens and pleasant coastal bays.

Idyllic little cove with a shallow bathing area and picturesque wooden cottages
The cove at Steephill is a hidden treasure on the Isle of Wight and has remained a secrete for many years. Recently there has been recognition in national newspapers but luckily this has failed to ruin it.
A small beach of sand and shingle is backed by traditional wooden fishing cottages and fisherman still launch small craft in search of lobster and crab which are then sold behind the beach. A couple of cottages have been converted into a restaurant and cafe. Both are excellent and well worth trying.

Delicious food and a stunning sea view. Good for lunch or dinner.
The Rex Restaurant is part of the old Rex Cinema and some of the Art Deco charm rubs off on this restaurant. A devoted band of extremely charming eccentrics help add character and the light and airy design takes full advantage of the wonderful sea view.
The menu is a little complicated to interpret but with a little explanation it reveals itself to be full of choice and variety. A light lunch consists of a large choice freshly made salads and panninis, baguettes and sandwiches. The evening menu is more substantial with choices like Chicken and Mushroom Crêpe, Asparagus Fettuccine Stir Fry With Peanut Sauce, Beef Stroganoff and Oven Baked Sea Bream.

Excellent food tapas style food
With a beach front position overlooking the sea, a good range of wines, an extensive menu of good food and a smart look & feel, the Pintxo Playa is a lovely place to stop for lunch.
A meze of humus, olives (assortment recommended) seafood dishes and roasted vegetables all accompanied by a interesting selection of breads was extremely satisfying and reasonably priced. The wine list makes for a pleasant read and the ones served by the glass are well chosen.
