The Isle of Wight Steam Railway has an almost unique collection of carriages and locomotives which give an insight into the history of train travel. The railway museum is packed with added information and also gives an insight into the day to day life of those who travelled and worked on the steam railway network.

Carisbrooke Castle dates back to the 12th Century and is everything one imagines in a castle. Children simply love the donkeys, which are used to raise water, and the nooks and crannies, ideal for exploring.

This important historical site has been brought to life with the aid of a museum built on stilts above the remains of a Roman villa. This enables you to look down on layout of the structure and see for yourself the important relics in their original position. As you walk though the exhibit you can learn more about the origial functions of the building and about like in the time of the Romans.
The Isle of Wight has a rich modern history and one of the highlights is Osborne House. The house was the holiday residence of Queen Victoria and was acquired after her marrige to Albert. The house is now open to the public and exhibits a large number of interesting artifacts with particular relevance to the house, the Victorian reign and Queen Victoria's family life.
