With a beach front position overlooking the sea, a good range of wines, an extensive menu of good food and a smart look & feel, the Pintxo Playa is a lovely place to stop for lunch.

A meze of humus, olives (assortment recommended) seafood dishes and roasted vegetables all accompanied by a interesting selection of breads was extremely satisfying and reasonably priced. The wine list makes for a pleasant read and the ones served by the glass are well chosen.

map_godshillExcellent food and a warm and welcoming atmosphere

casktavernersSpecialising in local game, fish and the more traditional dishes the Cask & Taverners in Godshill offers something deliciously different. A large board shows what is in season around the year and the specials allow you to eat the freshest local foods.

A variety of tempting dishes waft past to other tables as you make your difficult choices from the menu but a good selection of wines, ales and ciders help lubricate the brain in preparation.

Seaview Hotel Restaurant

Seaview, Isle of Wight

Fine dining in the seaside town of Seaview.

The Seaview Hotel is well known for its food and high level of service. Under the guidance of head chef Graham Walker the restaurant has returned to earn that reputation after a spell in the doldrums.

I found the food to be playful and interesting to look at with plenty of wow factor. The taste didn't disappoint either and even the humble parsnip was conjured into a treat with rich and varied flavours. You can imagine the menu planning sessions in this restaurant being an impassioned affair as they dream up new ways to wow the diners.

LugleysLugleys is a hotel and restaurant in the centre of Newport and offers friendly atmosphere and a comfortable and stylish dining room.

The food is some of the best in Newport and appeals to a wide variety of diners. The starters are large and very well prepared and main courses vary from hearty fish dishes and risottos to even heartier meat dishes. All are prepared with elegant arrangement and are visually stunning.

Rex Restaurant - Ventnor

Ventnor, Isle of WightDelicious food and a stunning sea view. Good for lunch or dinner.

Rex RestaurantThe Rex Restaurant is part of the old Rex Cinema and some of the Art Deco charm rubs off on this restaurant. A devoted band of extremely charming eccentrics help add character and the light and airy design takes full advantage of the wonderful sea view.

The menu is a little complicated to interpret but with a little explanation it reveals itself to be full of choice and variety. A light lunch consists of a large choice freshly made salads and panninis, baguettes and sandwiches. The evening menu is more substantial with choices like Chicken and Mushroom Crêpe, Asparagus Fettuccine Stir Fry With Peanut Sauce, Beef Stroganoff and Oven Baked Sea Bream.

Good food amongst pleasant and impressive surroundings

The George RestaurantThe George Hotel is an Isle of Wight landmark and the restaurant is one of the finest on the Island. It attracts those who wish to enjoy fine dining in an elegant setting. In fine weather one can eat outside overlooking the sea or enjoy wine and audurves with a fine view of Yarmouth Castle and Yarmouth Pier.

The George specialises in sourcing ingredients from the Isle of Wight and therefore the menu reflects the best of local fruit and vegetables as well as locally caught game, locally reared poultry and meat as well as fish and seafood landed on the Island.
