Westwood House is a lovely Edwardian property surrounded by its own seven acres of garden. An impressive private drive leads to the house. It is situated on the outer edge of Wootton, less than a mile from the coast and only a short drive from the sandy beaches of Ryde. There are wonderful open views across the gardens and nearby fields to the sea. This is a good walking and cycling area with country lanes leading to the coast and visitors can join a nearby cycle track linking the market town of Newport and the famous coastal sailing town of Cowes.
The West Wing of Westwood House has been furnished and equipped with care in a traditional style. It is self contained and centrally heated. There is a large ‘farmhouse style’ fitted kitchen with a very pleasant dining area. A door and windows open from here on to the terrace. The kitchen has attractive wooden units, an AGA, an eye level electric cooker and grill, ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher and fridge freezer. On the ground floor there is also a cloakroom with W.C, basin and washing machine. Upstairs there is a pleasant sitting room with a comfortable sofa and chairs, plus a colour television/DVD player/video recorder; a very pretty double bedroom with a colour television and an en-suite shower room with a W.C and basin. The bedroom has beautiful views of the surrounding countryside with the sea in the distance. Heating and electricity at no extra charge. WiFi internet access available.
The gardens of Westwood House are delightful with extensive lawns at the front of the house. Visitors have their own attractive, secluded terrace at the rear of The West Wing with garden furniture. There is an abundance of wild life in the garden with birds, red squirrels, and rabbits. A car can be parked close to the front of The West Wing. Regular bus service to Ryde and Newport plus public house and well stocked general stores within 10 minutes walk. Wootton village has a variety of small shops, a hotel and three public houses, two of which have restaurants overlooking the estuary. Nearby places to visit include Osborne House, the Isle of Wight home of Queen Victoria and the Steam Railway.
