
Uppermount is a house of great character and charm dating back to the 1800’s. It is delightfully situated in the picturesque village of Bonchurch and is only 5 minutes walk from the sea. Bonchurch is one of the warmest and sunniest spots on the Island. It has an air of tranquillity with its lovely village pond, 11th century church and traditional style cottages. The sandy beaches of Ventnor are only a 2-minute drive away.
Uppermount provides comfortable, spacious accommodation for 7 people. It is furnished in a traditional style with many antiques and items of furniture from across the world. The furnishings include four-poster beds in the main bedroom, and in the single bedroom. There are two double bedrooms, one twin room, and one single room; plus two bathrooms with W.Cs, one of which has an overhead shower. The spacious sitting room has a very pleasant ambience. It contains numerous books, and pictures, and a wood-burning stove creates added warmth. (Colour television/DVD and telephone). Meals can be enjoyed in an attractive separate dining room which has french doors opening on to the garden. All the main rooms have garden views and at the rear of the house is a pleasant conservatory. There is a fitted kitchen, with a gas cooker, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator and freezer. A washing machine and tumble dryer are also provided. Central heating/electricity free of charge. Folding bed, travel cot/high chair available.
Uppermount has a lovely large well established garden. From the large lawn at the front of the house terracing leads to areas with fruit trees and shrubs. There are wonderful sea views from this upper part of the garden. Parking for three cars. Public transport and public house 5 minutes walk. Restaurant - 2 minutes walk. Visitors are asked not to allow pets upstairs. Bookings Friday-Friday.

Local Amenities - Local restaurant in the village of Bonchurch called the Pond Cafe Local Walks - The cottage is located in a fantastic walking area and you can choose between short walks into Ventnor or longer treks along the coastal path. Inland you are able to walk the Downs and see spectacular views and wild life. |
