Sweet Brook forms part of a wing of a superb 17th Century farmhouse built of Island Stone and surrounded by 5 acres of lovely garden and fields. It is situated in attractive West Wight countryside and is within a 5 minute drive of the south coast of the island and the beach at Brook. There are several quiet and charming bays on this side of the Island. Sweet Brook is in ‘An area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ and footpaths can be followed to the nearby Brighstone Downs to join the famous Tennyson trail which extends from Carisbrooke, in the centre of the Isle of Wight, to the Needles on the western tip. Another extensive walk leads through Wellow and Shalfleet to Newtown – a wonderful estuary which is part of a National Nature reserve and is home to countless wildfowl and rare wading birds. There is a pleasant pottery and tea shop in the hamlet of Chessell.
Sweet Brook is on the ground floor of the wing of the farmhouse and is a self contained studio with its own private entrance. It has been furnished and equipped to a high standard, to provide attractive and comfortable open plan accommodation, which is compact and cosy. There is a double bed, and visitors can relax on the sofa in front of a warming, flame effect wood burning stove and colour television. Radio, DVD and CD player also provided. There is a pretty window seat overlooking the front garden; and a well equipped fitted kitchen area with an electric cooker and hob, microwave and refrigerator and small dining table. The shower room has a ceramic floor, built in shower, W.C. and basin. The accommodation is centrally heated. Heating and electricity are provided at no extra cost. Access to a washing machine and tumble dryer by arrangement.
The door of Sweet Brook opens directly onto a private area of garden by a pretty brook. Garden furniture, an umbrella and barbecue are provided so that meals can be enjoyed in the sunshine whilst watching the delightful family of ducks which have their home by the water. A car can be parked beside the property, in the grounds of the house, and there are three steps at the entrance. Good bus service - 5 minutes walk. Public house, shop and telephone within 1.5 miles.
