
This pretty thatched cottage is attractively situated in the grounds of Gillmans House, close to the centre of Brighstone - a charming village with many thatched cottages, an ancient church, post office, public house and National Trust shop. The village is surrounded by beautiful West Wight countryside and is less than a mile from the beach and National Trust coastline. Behind the village are the Brighstone Downs. Footpaths can be followed from here that lead to the renowned Tennyson Downs and The Needles. The spectacular coastal views from these downs are breathtaking. Paths in the opposite direction lead to the medieval castle of Carisbrooke and the market town of Newport close to the centre of the Island.
Stable Cottage has been converted from a lovely barn that dates back to the 17th Century. It is a Grade 11 listed building that is built of stone and wood. The cottage has been furnished in a traditional style to a very high standard. It has fitted carpets and has been decorated with the greatest care and attention to detail. It provides very comfortable and attractive accommodation. There is a large pretty double bedroom with a modern en-suite bathroom; an open plan sitting room with a sofa, colour television and some Sky channels; a pleasant dining area and a fitted kitchen area with a combination microwave with convection oven, refrigerator and freezer (washing machine and tumble drying service). Convector heaters keep the cottage warm in colder weather and all heating and electricity are provided free of charge. There are two steps between the bedroom door and the sitting room. Stable Cottage has its own delightful secluded garden where visitors can relax in the sunshine. Garden furniture is provided. A car can be parked alongside the cottage. Rural bus service and village shops within 3 minutes walk.
The secluded sandy bays of Brighstone, Colwell and Totland are within a short drive of the cottage. The small towns of Freshwater and Yarmouth are also nearby and they offer a choice of restaurants and shops. Mottistone Manor House, a National Trust property, is only a mile from Brighstone and Queen Victoria’s Island home - Osborne House is within a 30 minute drive.
