Alum Bay House is nestled in beautiful West Wight countryside and most of the main rooms enjoy spectacular views across fields to the sea. It is in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a footpath leads directly from the property across a field onto the nearby Tennyson Down. Here visitors can easily join the coastal path leading to The Needles and to the attractive bays of Freshwater, Totland and Colwell. A country public house and Alum Bay are only ¾ mile away. The small town of Freshwater is within 2 miles and this has a variety of shops and a leisure club.

Priestley forms the ground floor wing of Alum Bay House, a property dating back to the 1600’s. Priestley has its own private external entrances, one without steps. It has recently been renovated to a very high standard and has been sensitively furnished and equipped in an attractive country house style. It has a number of delightful paintings and the use of rugs over cream fitted carpets is very effective. Priestley Wing provides very comfortable accommodation for six people - one twin room and two lovely double rooms with sea views. One of the double rooms has French doors which give direct access outside. There is a bathroom with a bath, basin and W.C; a shower room with basin and W.C.; an open plan sitting room furnished with comfortable sofas, a colour television/DVD player and a lovely dining area where meals can be eaten whilst enjoying the views. There is a particularly attractive kitchen with fitted units and a granite style top. It is equipped with an electric cooker and hob, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator and washer dryer. There is also a very pleasant breakfast area. All the accommodation is on one level with two small internal steps. Storage heaters, with convectors combined, keep the property warm. A high chair is available.

There are wonderful gardens at the rear of the house and visitors have shared use of ‘the croquet lawn’. This is a large garden where visitors can relax and enjoy panoramic views across the surrounding fields to the downs, and to the western reaches of the Solent with the Hampshire coastline in the distance. Garden furniture and barbecue are provided. Two cars can be parked beside the property. Regular bus service - 5 minutes walk. Shop, telephone, beaches and boating within 1 mile. Friday to Friday bookings. Smoking not permitted.
