The Paper Barn occupies a delightful position on a lovely 12-acre farm, where horses are kept. The farm is surrounded by beautiful open countryside. It is a delightful walking area and visitors can follow footpaths over the Downs from close to the cottage.
The Paper Barn adjoins Squire Thatcher’s Barn and sits at the edge of a lovely open grassy courtyard, which is surrounded by the farmhouse, a large old barn and attractive stables. The cottage has been sensitively converted from an 18th century Grade II Listed stone barn. It has been furnished and equipped with care and has attractive open views at the rear, across fields to the Downs. The accommodation is all on the ground floor and follows an open plan design, which gives the feeling of space. There is a light and pleasant sitting room with comfortable sofas, television, DVD, VCR and a hi-fi system. The floor in this area is attractively furnished with rugs over the original flagstones. There is a pleasant dining area and modern fitted kitchen with electric cooker and hob, microwave, refrigerator (with small freezer section) and washer/dryer. The cottage has two attractive bedrooms - one double and one twin room plus a modern bathroom with a bath and overhead shower. Travel cot/highchair can be provided. Electric heaters keep the cottage warm in colder weather. Heating and electricity are provided free of charge.
There is a pleasant fenced garden at the rear of the cottage with open views across fields towards the downs. Garden furniture is provided. The Paper Barn is only a 10-minute walk from the lovely rural village of Newchurch, which has a good public house for meals. The sandy beaches of Sandown and Shanklin are a 10 minute drive away. The market town of Newport is within a 15 minute drive. Two cars can be parked at the rear of the cottage. Access to the cottage is along a gravel lane. Rural bus service ¼ mile.
