The centre of the village is within a 2 minute walk with its beautiful 17th century church, a village shop and a public house which offers a good location for a meal. The village is surrounded by beautiful countryside and there are wonderful downland walks directly from the cottage. Shorwell is less than a 5 minute drive from the pretty coastal village of Brighstone where there is a quiet beach.
This is a beautiful old stone cottage, parts of which date back to the 17th century. It provides attractive and comfortable accommodation in a traditional style. The design of the house is particularly attractive with the spacious sitting room being placed upstairs to take full advantage of views across the raised garden at the rear of the cottage. This beautiful room has lovely large windows and has the feel of a garden room. It is furnished with comfortable sofas and arm chairs. An open fire can be enjoyed in colder weather. A television/Freesat/DVD provided. On this upper level of the cottage there are three spacious bedrooms – two double rooms – one with its own dressing room, plus a triple room with a children’s bunk bed and a 2ft 6 ins single bed. There are two bathrooms upstairs with baths, hand showers, basins and W.Cs. On the ground floor there is a lovely spacious dining room with a decorative stone fireplace; a fourth bedroom – a pleasant room with a single bed which can be accessed via the dining room; a third bathroom with a bath, overhead shower, basin and W.C; a kitchen with fitted units, gas cooker, dishwasher and microwave plus a small breakfast area. A fridge freezer, washing machine and ample space for drying outdoor clothes available in the adjoining utility room. Central heating/electricity without extra charge. The large fenced garden at the rear of the Old Stable is a particularly attractive feature of the property. Its peacefulness attracts many wild birds and red squirrels can sometimes be seen. There is a lovely combination of mature shrubs, flowering plants and areas of lawn in the upper part of the garden. Garden furniture is provided. Four cars can be parked in front of the cottage.
