This lovely stone cottage nestles in beautiful countryside on a delightful farm on the East side of the Island within a 15 minute drive of the sandy beaches of Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor. There are wonderful open views from the cottage and garden across fields towards the downs. The Old Brew House is at the end of a country lane with no passing traffic. This is a wonderful walking area with footpaths leading along the course of the River Yar and to the nearby picturesque village of Godshill. Visitors are free to stroll across the fields of the farm and around the lovely lake in the grounds of the Manor House. There is an open grassland area near the lakes with open views where barbecues can be enjoyed. There is also a lovely nature trail on the farm so that visitors can enjoy the wonderful range of wild life – this includes herons, ducks and geese on the lakes; swallows and kestrels often nest in the barns; pheasants, foxes and badgers plus rabbits which abound. A small herd of cows is kept on the farm and there is a delightful area for children with small rare-breed bagot goats that will eat from the hand and rescued hens which are now free-range. From the cottage there is direct access across the fields to the cycle track which links Sandown to Newport and Cowes. Arrangements can be made for the storage of bikes.

The Old Brew House is built of Island Stone and dates back to 1610. The cottage is full of character with its flag stone floors, large inglenook fireplace and attractive staircase leading up to a pretty galleried landing. It has been renovated and equipped with great care and provides very pleasant accommodation for 4 people. The ground floor of the cottage is largely open plan with a dining area; sitting room furnished with a comfortable sofa and armchairs, a colour television/DVD; a modern fitted kitchen area equipped with an electric cooker and ceramic hob, microwave, dishwasher and refrigerator with freezer section. A washing machine/tumble dryer are also provided. There is a twin pretty bedroom on the ground floor and a modern bathroom with a bath, overhead shower, basin and W.C. Upstairs there is a further lovely double bedroom with open views across the fields. A folding bed for a child can be provided on the galleried landing. High chair/wooden cot available. The Old Brew House is centrally heated. Heating and electricity without extra charge.

At the front of the cottage there is a pretty walled courtyard with garden furniture. A small gate opens into a fenced garden with lawns and shrubs. Visitors can make arrangements to fish the lakes in the grounds of the Manor House. Two cars can be parked in the drive. Access to the farm is along a gravel lane. Public house and post office within 5 minutes drive. Regular bus service 15 minutes walk. It is not possible to use the open fire. It is suggested that you bring your walking boots and bicycles for your own pleasure.

James S - 06/09 - "We thouroughly enjoyed our stay, and have already recommended this place to all our friends, family and work colleagues. It was a wonderful base for such a beautiful island, and if we ever return to the Isle of Wight (which i'm sure we will) we will definitely enquire about the availability of The Old Brew House in the first instance."

Richard G - 05/09 - "Lovely cottage, owners very friendly and helpful"
