
Monkspath is a delightful detached house with a private heated swimming pool set in extensive private grounds and with coastal views from all the front facing rooms. It is very attractively situated in the small rural hamlet of Limerstone and is only 1.5 miles from the south west coast of the Isle of Wight. This is an area of outstanding natural beauty and the house is within a mile of the small village of Shorwell with its pretty award winning public house. Also nearby is the picturesque village of Brighstone which is renowned for its beautiful church, thatched cottages and local shops. There is a quiet beach at Brighstone which is good for paddling and swimming and several small sandy coves are within a short drive. This is also a wonderful walking area and footpaths can be followed from close to Monkspath on to the beautiful downs towards the rear of the house. From here visitors can join the Worsley Trail which links with the renowned Tennyson trail – a footpath with spectacular coastal views which extends to the Needles on the furthest westerly point of the Island. The house is within a 15 minute drive of the market town of Newport and the attractive coastal town of Yarmouth, renowned for its sailing. Here there are a variety of small interesting shops, good restaurants, public houses and tea shops. Monkspath is a lovely, secluded property protected by high hedging and large gates which open into the beautiful gardens which surround the house. There are views across fields to the sea at the front of the house and there are fields and downs at the rear.
The house has recently been renovated and has been furnished and equipped with great care to provide delightful, luxurious accommodation . It is centrally heated and there are fitted carpets throughout most of the property. On the ground floor there is a light and spacious sitting room with comfortable sofas, wide screen LCD television / FreeSAT / DVD and a wood burning stove which provides a pleasant focus for the room during colder weather; a second small attractive sitting room with a sofabed, and a second LCD television / DVD; an elegant dining room with a table and chairs which will comfortably seat 12 people. French doors open from here into a small conservatory where visitors can relax in the sunshine. The kitchen is light and spacious and is very well equipped with attractive fitted units, a range style cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, and dishwasher. There is also an AGA which will be switched on in the colder months. In the centre of the kitchen there are a table and chairs where informal meals can be enjoyed. A washing machine and tumble dryer are housed in the adjoining utility room. There are also two separate W.C.’s with basins on the ground floor. Stairs lead up to the first floor where there are three lovely double bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms are very spacious with King Size beds and have en-suite shower rooms with W.C.’s. These rooms both have good views across the fields to the sea and one has a wonderful, large balcony providing a very pleasant place to relax. The third room overlooks the garden and has a double bed, an en-suite bathroom with hand shower, basin and W.C. The fourth bedroom is also a lovely pleasant room with a full size bunk bed. On this floor there is a family bathroom with a bath, overhead shower and basin. There is also a separate W.C. A further small flight of stairs leads up to the second floor where there is a spacious triple room with a connecting door which leads into the playroom. Here there is a large dolls house and a wonderful colourful array of soft toys, books and games which would delight any child. From the playroom there are even more spectacular coastal views. A travel cot and high chair can be provided if required. There is a telephone for incoming and outgoing calls.
In the secluded gardens Monkspath has a delightful heated swimming pool and there is teak garden furniture and a charcoal barbecue so that visitors can enjoy alfresco dining. The heated pool is available from mid May to the end of October. At other times the availability of the pool is dependent on the weather. There is a cover that will prevent a small child from falling in the pool. There is also a large trampoline (with safety nets) for children to absorb their energy plus a playhouse and slide. The gardens are fenced and there are large lawns and shrubberies at the front and side of the house. At the rear the garden adjoins a large paddock which extends towards the downs and which visitors are welcome to explore. Four cars can be parked in the drive. A rural bus service is within a few minutes walk. Public house and small shop - 1 mile. Bookings Friday to Friday. Nearby places to visit include the national trust gardens of Mottistone Manor, Blackgang Adventure Park, The Needles Park at Alum Bay, the medieval castle of Carisbrooke and the National Nature reserve at Newtown - home to countless wildfowl and rare wading birds.
