Manor Stable is situated on a lovely farm in beautiful South Wight countryside. From the cottage there are wonderful open views across the fields and nearby lakes to the Ventnor downs in the distance. It is a marvellous walking area with footpaths that can be followed directly from the cottage in most directions. There are particularly attractive walks along the course of the river Yar; to the picturesque village of Godshill and to the nearby village of Arreton which has a pub and cafe for meals. More extensive walks lead to the downs and visitors can join the renowned Stenbury and Worsley Trails. From the cottage there is easy access to the cycle path which connects Newport to Sandown and forms part of a network of cycle paths crossing the Island. The sandy beaches of Sandown and Shanklin are within a 15 minute drive as is the market town of Newport with its medieval castle of Carisbrooke.
Manor Stable is a charming cottage built of Island chalk and brick and adjoins what was originally the old farm granary. The cottage has been converted with great care from an ancient barn and where possible original features have been retained. It has recently been renovated and equipped with great care to provide very attractive and comfortable accommodation for 4 people in 2 bedrooms. It is centrally heated and furnished to a high standard in a traditional style. The front door opens into a large open plan room with a wonderful vaulted ceiling and large ancient beam. There is a lovely sofa and chairs, colour television/DVD plus a very pleasant dining area and a newly equipped fitted kitchen with an gas cooker and gas hob, microwave, dishwasher, fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer. The cottage has two delightful bedrooms – one twin room and one double room with an en-suite bathroom with a bath, overhead shower, basin and W.C.. There is also a family bathroom with a bath, overhead shower, basin and W.C. Heating & electricity are provided at no extra charge.
The cottage has a lovely enclosed patio style garden with garden furniture so that meals can be enjoyed in the sunshine. There is direct access to a large grass area which is good for playing games and enjoying a barbecue. A mown path also leads to the beautiful fishing lakes on the farm. Arrangements can be made for visitors to fish here. Two cars can be parked at the rear of the cottage and a small flight of steps leads down from here to the cottage entrance. Regular bus service within 15 minutes walk. Public house, tea room and post office within an attractive 30 minutes walk. Access to the farm is along a gravel lane.
