Visitor Comments

Clare B - 06/10 - "This was one of the most relaxing holidays we have had. Knighton Gorges is full of mystery and the history is facinating, but it also gives you the peace and quiet you need. It was one of the cleanest rental properties we have stayed in. It was spacious and had every facility you could want. The children adored the sheep and freedom of such a huge garden."
Mr W- 10/09 - "Plenty of space and excellent local footpaths"
More

Knighton Gorges occupies a wonderful situation nestled in lovely East Wight countryside, in ‘An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’. It has uninterrupted views across the beautiful Yar valley to the Ventnor Downs. The house offers an oasis of peace, being a detached property with its own two acres of grounds and no near neighbours. This is a haven for wild life - rabbits, pheasants and numerous other birds abound. Red squirrels and badgers may also be seen. The property dates back to the 17th century and used to form part of the buildings of the famous Manor House which occupied the site. Nothing now remains of the Manor apart from the impressive stone pillars which stand as the gateway to Knighton Gorges.

Knighton Gorges is of an impressive size. The front door opens into a large hall/reception room with open stairs leading up to a galleried sitting area. This faces south and offers a sunny place to relax. Like all the main rooms in the house this area enjoys beautiful views down the valley. There are three bedrooms - one double and two twin rooms. These all have modern en-suite bathrooms with W.Cs. A shower room with W.C is downstairs. (Folding bed/high chair/wooden cot available) The sitting room and dining area are extremely spacious and guests can relax comfortably. (Two colour televisions and a DVD player are provided). The kitchen is equipped with fitted units and has a fridge freezer, double electric oven and hob, as well as microwave and dishwasher. A separate utility room contains the washing machine and tumble dryer. The kitchen has an attractive breakfast area with a large pine table that gives the room the feeling of an old-fashioned country kitchen.

Guests can enjoy meals on the sunny patio. Garden furniture and a barbecue are provided. Gateways lead from the garden to pastures grazed by some pet sheep who will eat from the hand. The sandy beaches of Sandown, Shanklin and Ryde are about a 10-minute drive away. The attractive village of Newchurch with its public house, parish church, village post office and telephone is 1 ½ miles away.
