Honeymoon Cottage stands towards the end of a country lane beside a small farm. It is in an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’ on the edge of the rural village of Whitwell close to the south coast of the Island. This is a wonderful walking area with footpaths leading directly from the cottage into the beautiful countryside and on to the downs. The centre of Whitwell, with its 16th Century church and public house for meals, is within 15 minutes walk. The seaside resort of Ventnor is only a 10 minute drive away and also nearby are the sandy beaches of Sandown and Shanklin.
Honeymoon Cottage is one of a pair of cottages with wonderful open views of the beautiful surrounding countryside with the downs in the distance. A farm courtyard stands next to the cottage and ducks, chickens and geese are kept in an adjoining field. The farm is renowned for its fishing lakes where visitors can make arrangements to fish. The cottage has been furnished and equipped in a rich and elaborate traditional style with great care and attention to detail. Upstairs there are two beautiful bedrooms – one double room with a splendid antique four poster bed and a lovely second double room. (A folding bed can be provided in the smaller double room so that a child can sleep separately). On the ground floor there is a country style kitchen equipped with an electric cooker/hob, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator with freezer section and washing machine; a bathroom with a bath and overhead shower, W.C and basin; an attractive dining room with a wood burning stove so that meals can be enjoyed in front of a real fire; a lovely sitting room furnished with comfortable sofas, a colour television, DVD player and an open fire. Elegant wooden French doors open from here into the garden. The cottage is warmed with a combination of electric radiators and the wood burning stove. Electricity at no extra charge.
The cottage has a lovely secluded large garden where a variety of birds are frequent visitors. There is a fish pond in the garden so children do need to be closely supervised. Garden furniture is provided. One car can be parked in a private parking bay at the front of the cottage. Bus service within 15 minutes walk.
