This stone cottage is very attractively situated surrounded by beautiful South Wight countryside. It is within a pleasant 5 minute stroll, across the fields, of the small village of Whitwell. In the village centre there is an attractive church and a public house which is good for meals. The sandy beach of Ventnor is within 5 minutes drive and there is also easy access to the smaller quiet coves on the south west side of the Island. This is a wonderful walking area with a network of footpaths passing close to the cottage. From here is it possible to walk to the picturesque village of Godshill and the coastal village of Niton, or join the extensive Worsley and Stenbury trails. Course Fishing is available by contacting the nearby Nettelcombe Farm.
Hedgerow Cottage is very peacefully situated at the end of a lane. It is one of three cottages, one of which is retained by the owner for her own use. The cottage is semi detached and is several hundred years old. It has been renovated to a high standard and it has been equipped with care. There are lovely cream fitted carpets throughout most of the cottage and it is furnished in a traditional style. On the ground floor there is a new fitted kitchen equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge freezer and washer dryer. There is a pleasant dining area and an attractive sitting room with a comfortable sofa, colour television with DVD. Stairs lead up from the sitting room to a pretty bedroom with a double bed and a separate bathroom with bath, hand shower and W.C. There are lovely views from the bedroom and sitting room across the fields to the downs in the distance. The cottage is heated with electric radiators. All heating and electricity at no extra charge. Folding bed or travel cot/high chair can be provided.
There is a small fenced garden with garden furniture. The parking area beside the cottage is not suitable for larger style vehicles such as ‘Camper Vans’ and ‘People Carriers’. Access to the cottage is along a gravel farm track across fields to the cottages. Rural bus service and telephone 5 minutes walk. Good village shops at Niton - 5 minutes drive. Smoking not permitted.

General Orientation - Hedgerow is 10mins walk from the centre of Whitwell which, in turn, is located between Godshill and Ventnor. Ventnor Beach is within easy reach, as is Sandown and Shanklin via Godshill. Public Transport - 2 bus stops,(10mins walk). Busses run to Newport, Ventnor and Alum Bay. Local Walks - Whitwell is surrounded by countryside and walks pass only 2mins away from the cottage. Attractions - Whitwell has a public house which provides home made food and local beers. History - Church of St Mary, of which some parts date back to the 12th Century. |
