Demelza is a lovely stone cottage that dates back to 1750. It is situated close to the centre of the picturesque village of Godshill. The village is renowned for its pretty thatched cottages, its 14th Century church and tea-gardens. It also has two pleasant public houses, restaurants and a small number of shops. Godshill is only seven minutes drive from the sandy beaches of Shanklin and Ventnor on the east coast of the island. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside and adjoins an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Footpaths and bridleways lead from the village to the Downs of Appuldurcombe and join the renowned Stenbury and Worsley Trails that extend from the centre of the Island to the south and east coastlines.
Demelza has been decorated and furnished with great care to a high standard. It is a semi-detached cottage and provides attractive and comfortable accommodation in a traditional style. The cottage has a lovely sitting room with exposed beams (a colour television, DVD player, hi-fi system and telephone); a pretty dining area; and two very attractive bedrooms - one double room, and a small single room. (Cot/high chair available). The bathroom is on the ground floor and has a bath with an overhead electric shower. The kitchen has an electric cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, and washing machine/dryer. The cottage is centrally heated at no extra cost. (It is not possible to use the open fires). Pets are only permitted downstairs.
Demelza has a pretty fenced country garden which still retains an ancient well and pump with a securely padlocked cover. It has a secluded patio with a table and chairs where meals and barbecues can be enjoyed. The garden overlooks the village cricket field at the rear and there are views of the Downs in the distance. There is a post office and small general stores, public house, restaurant and good bus service within 1 minutes walk. Cars can be parked in nearby side roads within two minutes walk. Nearby places to walk to include The Model Village, The Old Smithy, and a small Natural History Museum. Smoking permitted downstairs only.
