This lovely stone cottage is built of Island Stone and has been converted from an ancient stone barn. It is one of a pair of cottages divided by an attractive central arch leading to a large inner courtyard with pretty gardens and four additional cottages. Byre Cottage is situated in a small country lane in attractive countryside. This is a lovely walking area and footpaths lead from close to the cottage to the beautiful downs above Ventnor. Byre Cottage is only 1.5 miles from the centre of the seaside town of Shanklin with its wonderful sandy beach which is popular for swimming and paddling. The town has a variety of restaurants and entertainments. The neighbouring seaside towns of Sandown and Ventnor are within a 10 minute drive.
Byre Cottage has been furnished and equipped to a high standard to provide attractive and comfortable accommodation for four people. The accommodation is all on one level. Features such as beams in the walls and ceilings have been retained. The cottage has a light and spacious sitting room with a sofa and chairs, a colour television, Freeview and DVD player. During colder weather visitors can relax in front of a real open fire. The sitting room has windows overlooking the front garden as well as French doors opening onto a patio at the rear. There is a pleasant dining area; a modern fitted kitchen equipped with an electric oven and gas hob, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher and washer dryer; a bathroom with a bath, overhead shower, sink and W.C.; two attractive bedrooms – one double and one twin room. Heating and electricity are provided free of charge. A high chair, travel cot and folding bed are available.
The cottage has a lovely, sunny, enclosed garden at the rear where visitors can relax and games can be played. There is garden furniture, an umbrella and a barbecue. A gate from this garden opens into the inner courtyard and provides access through the arch back to the front of the cottage. There is also an area of garden at the front of the cottage and parking space for two cars. Post office, shop and telephone 1 mile. Regular bus service ½ mile. Smoking not permitted.

Public Transport - Local bus 5mins walk. Busses go to Shanklin and Sandown to the East (right) and Newport via Godshill to the West (left).. Local Shop - Grocery shops are best reached by bus or car and located in Shanklin and Sandown. Local Amenities - Local public house serving food and sunday lunches as well as library and non food shops. Local Walks - The cottage is located in a fantastic walking area and you can choose between short walks in the local woodland or longer walks along the Coastal Path via Shanklin. Local Busses make the whole Island within easy reach for walking. Activities - The cottage is located near to the sandy beaches of Sandown and Shanklin. They are easy to reach by bus or on foot for the more energetic. Eating and Drinking - Public houses and restaurants cluster around the beach at Shanklin. For taking tea or a drink in the sun Godshill offers a choice of pubs and tea rooms. |
