Bridgecourt Manor Cottage is in the grounds of an old manor house in beautiful South Wight countryside near the picturesque village of Godshill. The Manor House is surrounded by lovely gardens which the cottage overlooks. This is a wonderful walking area and visitors can follow footpaths immediately from the cottage to the nearby picturesque village of Godshill or follow the course of the River Yar which meanders to the south coast of the island. Other footpaths lead on to the nearby downs. The sandy beaches of Shanklin and Sandown are within a 10 minute drive as is the market town of Newport. Ventnor beach is a 5 minute drive away.
Bridgecourt Manor Cottage is a stone cottage, converted from an ancient forge which dates back to the 1600’s. It provides attractive and comfortable accommodation for 5 people in 3 bedrooms. The cottage has been furnished and equipped in a traditional style and is centrally heated. On the ground floor there is large open plan sitting room furnished with comfortable sofas, a colour television/DVD player and a pleasant dining area. There is a fitted kitchen equipped with an electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator with freezer section and a small breakfast area. A washer/dryer is also provided. There is access to a single bedroom via the kitchen. This bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a bath, overhead shower, basin and w.c. Upstairs there are two additional bedrooms – one double and one twin room, both with en-suite shower rooms with W.Cs and basins. Heating and electricity are provided without extra charge. A folding bed, travel cot and high chair can be made available if required.
There is an attractive fenced garden at the front of the cottage with a lawn and a secluded patio with garden furniture and an umbrella. Visitors have access to the lovely large pond in the grounds of Bridgecourt Manor which is home to a variety of ducks. Three cars can be parked immediately outside the cottage garden. Visitors can walk into the village of Godshill in 10 minutes and here there is a village shop, restaurant, tea shops and two public houses plus a regular bus service to Shanklin and Newport.
