This lovely detached house is situated close to the cliff top above Totland Bay on the west side of the Island. There are sea views from the rooms at the front of the house and the lighthouse at Hurst Point can be glimpsed in the distance. The sandy bay of Totland where swimming, paddling, boating and wonderful sunsets can be enjoyed is only a three-minute walk away and the beach has a designated, roped off bathing area for children and more timid swimmers. This is also a marvellous walking area. Chine Cottage is on the coastal path at the top of Widdick Chine and this path extends westward to Tennyson Down and the Needles - a renowned walk with panoramic sea views. There are shopping centres at the nearby town of Freshwater and at Yarmouth; a popular sailing centre with a variety of public houses and restaurants.
Chine Cottage is a substantial property furnished and equipped with care to provide attractive and comfortable accommodation for six people. The rooms are light, spacious and centrally heated. There is a charming entrance hall with a Victorian style feature fireplace and a separate dining room for more formal meals with sea glimpses. A delightful sitting room with comfortable sofas, Victorian style feature fireplace, Smart TV, a large bay window with a window seat, and a French door which opens directly into the enclosed rear garden. The spacious kitchen has sensitive spot lighting, and the floors and walls tiled with superb polished natural stone. There are fitted units with granite style tops, a large range style cooker with a double oven and gas hob, microwave, refrigerator, freezer and dishwasher. In the kitchen there is a feature brick fireplace, now utilised for the storage of wine, plus a utility area with a second sink, washing machine and tumble dryer. There is a also a separate cloakroom here with a WC and basin. French doors open from the kitchen into a sunny conservatory with a sofa and chairs. Further doors open from here on to the patio.
Stairs lead up from the front entrance hall to four charming bedrooms; two double rooms with sea views, plus two single rooms, one of which has a balcony overlooking the garden where visitors may enjoy relaxing. There is also a bathroom with a bath, separate shower cubicle and basin. There is also a separate WC. A wooden cot, high chair, stair gate and push chair can be provided if required.
There is a secluded fenced garden at the rear of the cottage with a patio, fragrant shrubs, flower beds and external lighting. Two steps lead to the lawn - it provides the perfect place for visitors to relax and enjoy a barbecue. At the front of the cottage there is a garden with a lawn and shrubs, plus a parking area for two cars. Steps lead up from the parking area to the front door. Special facilities are available for dogs. There is a restaurant/cafe by the beach within five minutes walk; public house, small general stores and regular bus service are within five minutes walk.
